Program Details
You will work 5 hours per day in exchange for free accommodation, food, internet, etc.
Included are 3 meals per day:
Breakfast, Lunch (we provide ingredients to make a basic lunch) and a nice complete shared dinner. Please note we are an animal rescue farm and strictly vegetarian / vegan. Anything else, special wishes, additional snacks, and drinks such as alcohol must be bought by the volunteers themselves.
Due to the increase in costs for electricity and water as well as food, we expect you to live here consciously and by our house rules (i.e. max. one short shower per day).
We expect everyone to participate in keeping the house clean and tidy, and to keep their own room and bathroom clean at all times.
Lastly, you are not a volunteer. You are part of our team, and this a work exchange. You work in exchange for food and accommodation.
Activities & Shift
Main activities include:
- housekeeping and cleaning, preparing tents / camp for new guests
- animal care, walking dogs, cleaning animals enclosures
- small DIY / building projects
- gardening tasks
- some babysitting
- buildup / breakdown of camp
Note: we are very busy here, we have a rescue farm, a campsite, a 3 year old child, a newborn, as well as a large team to look after. This means we can be a little chaotic at times. If you require a strict daily structure and clear instructions at all times, this may not be the right work exchange for you. Please take this into account when applying, it's important you are mature and can take some own initiative sometimes. Talk to us if there is something you need so there are no misunderstandings later. This is important so you and us all can have the best possibly experience together. After all, we want you to have a great time here! :)
Rules
We expect you to be motivated and caring. You really need to want to be here, and not just see this as a free holiday or cheap stay. We are not a hotel, so you need to respect the house, family, other volunteers. Be conscious with your use, treat everything as your own. We do expect you to care about what we do here, and to work hard and help us during the hours we need you to. You are not a volunteer, this is an exchange!
We have 2 small kids and are very busy parents and business owners, so we don't always have a lot of time. But the nice thing is that in summer we always have more volunteers here, so you will make friends and can do nice things together.
The days off are not always 2 days in a row, and they are not always on the weekend. We will decide with you which days you have off that week. We try to be as flexible as possible so you can do the things you'd like to do.
