The Experience

Corumbau is a paradise with fewer than 3,000 inhabitants, with warm and calm waters at the southern tip of Bahia's coast. After many years in 'Babylon', we decided to leave the big city and conceived 'Canto de Jurema' as a place for gatherings, healing, permaculture, lodging and hospitality. We only have 5 accommodations, and we need help in the breakfast kitchen and daily cleaning. Shifts to be arranged.

There were many pros and cons of this experience. The pros being nice people, beautiful beaches, and bio-construction experience. Regardless of the pros I cut my stay 2 weeks short because the “glamping” experience advertised online did not match the reality. As a person with ecology knowledge and lots of good travel under my belt I was surprised that this experience didn't work out. Upon arrival I experienced roaches, rat, mosquitoes, an apathetic host, and moldy pillows within my living spaces. Many of which are a health hazard which combined led me to cut my stay short.

Thank you for the feedback. I believe there was a misalignment of expectations and understanding. Unfortunally we cannot kill all the bugs and mosquitoes, as they are part of the enviroment.

The eco lodge is filled with good energy, good people and there is no better word than : -gratitude to everyone!!! I was received so well that I felt welcomed and special! I learned everything I wanted and much more about bioconstruction ,and sustainability! I stayed in one of the Bakanas ( experience wonderful) . I did the work in the kitchen and learned a lot from the chef (Arielma🥰) . I wanted to explore other duties that did me a lot of good! The schedules are always well explained the host Alexandre and the Chris who takes care of everything are welcoming people! I would return and live in this sacred place❣️😁 Gratitude 🙏🏽

It was definitely the volunteer work I’ve liked the most so far! I felt very welcomed and I loved both the treatment and the place. The eco lodge is simply captivating, I was enchanted from the first day! It was a very special experience and it added a lot to my backpacking trip
The eco lodge is also a paradise with a wonderful beach, calm sea and a lot of peace. I highly recommend the eco lodge, the host, and this special little corner! I will surely treasure this experience with great care, and I hope to be able to return in the future 🥹🤍

It was days of total connection with nature! Canto de Jurema is a mini forest in the center of Corumbau where you don't want to leave. A privilege to be able to spend hours in the hammock just listening to the birds. The team at Canto are amazing people; it was a pleasure to work with all of them. What I liked most about volunteering there was that, beyond cleaning, I had the opportunity to perform tasks in several areas, and thus I could explore other skills.
In the description it said that only breakfast was offered, but when buying food for the volunteers there were also items to cook meals.

I loved the experience!! I was accepted as a last-minute volunteer and I was very happy when I arrived at this little paradise. I received a warm welcome from the whole team, which was absolutely lovely. The work was enjoyable and I could participate in several tasks (help with breakfast, clean the cabins, assist in the ecological construction of new spaces). I needed peace, and time for myself, and my space was really respected, which I appreciated a lot. This did not prevent me from taking part in some wonderful social events, such as Sunday feijoada. I would highly recommend 100% 🥰🍀
