The experience

We're looking for volunteers to help build a medieval Gothic edifice in Burgundy using 13th-century techniques and materials.
We provide food and lodging in exchange for your help 5 days a week.
There's a kitchen where you can prepare your meals.

What you offer

30 hours of help per week

Building & Repairing: Help with a wide range of repairs or building.


What you get

2 days off per week

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Get free drinks or beverages.: Drink up! Get free and tasty drinks for yourself.

Pick Up: We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.


Requirements

Fluent English or Fluent French

Between 18 and 70 years old

Welcomes solo volunteers, couples, and partners of volunteers

Program Details

We are building by hand and from scratch a Medieval edifice using hand-carved stones, reclaimed local stone, and lime mortar.
It's a work of art and a magical construction. A project that is creating more than just a 13th-century building.


Activities & Shift

We work in groups doing various housekeeping tasks, collecting rocks, masonry, woodwork, and yard work.
The day starts at 8h with a 2 hours lunch break and the day finishes at 17h.
The minimum stay is 2 weeks, the 1st day is induction & training.
Weekend activities are organized when possible with hiking and visiting local sites.


Rules

Follow all site rules and information given on induction/training day.
Keep the dormitory, kitchen, and toilets clean. Wash and put away all tools at the end of each day.
Respect others and have fun.
