I volunteered at the hostel for 3 weeks in February. The tasks were generally easy and manageable. Everyone was very kind and respectful towards each other, and the atmosphere was really positive.

For all intents and purposes, my cohort were guinea pigs — this was one of the first time there were volunteers in the bar, so communication was inconsistent and at some points hostile between the different branches of power at the hostel; this often put volunteers in the middle of preexisting power struggles, and I ended up working way more hours than previously agreed. When the owners of the hostel were present there were no issues, however the owners are often out of the area. It was a beautiful place with wonderful people; I will definitely be coming back now that they've figured it out.

I met some truly incredible people and really connected with them. One of them was Sergio, the volunteer manager, who helped me understand many things through the experiences he has lived. What I would recommend is having better communication regarding the volunteers' tasks and schedules, because sometimes they asked you to stay at the bar even when you had already finished your responsibilities earlier. I honestly think that's the main thing that could be improved. Other than that, everything was great for me.

Loved it! The tasks are so reasonable compared to what they offer. I cooked and had evening activities, which I loved to do! The guests are so nice and it really felt like a little community that started building there between travellers! (many were staying longer). And in a perfect location! And the staff!! Felt like a family <333
