It was a great experience, the hostel is in the city center, so I was able to visit many places very easily. The staff who work there are communicative and kind.

Mixed experience. The work is good and the location in the center is amazing. The cleaning staff is lovely! However, reception wasn't welcoming. I didn't feel integrated, so I don't get the "second family" reviews. Note for future volunteers: the bedroom clearly wasn't cleaned after the last people left. Also, the room is right next to classrooms, so expect to be woken up at 7:30-8am by shouting students. Great spot, but comfort and welcome need work.

It was a good experience but it's a lot of Work that you have to do in housekeeping, I was thinking that just I have to help but it wasn't like I thought, you have to work a lot doing the beds cleaning vacuum, the accommodation is good, but I think that they can offer at least 3 meals because you really have to work during the day, and another important thing is stef has to improve the way he threats volunteers

Dear Esteban,

Thank you for your feedback. The tasks, working hours, and conditions including housekeeping duties were clearly explained in writing during the application process.

We’re surprised by this review, especially since we were understanding after you arrived intoxicated several days before the agreed start date and later left earlier than agreed. We always aim to be fair and expect mutual respect in return.

Kind regards 💙

The hostel is large and requires support across private and shared rooms, as well as cleaning tasks in common areas such as the kitchen, canteen, and laundry. The building has five floors without an elevator, so the work involves some physical effort. On the positive side, the team is supportive and allows access to food for personal breakfast or breaks. Regarding schedules, it is advisable to clarify shift distribution in advance, as the 5x2 system may involve rotating morning and evening shifts.

Dear Camila,

Thank you so much for your feedback! We truly appreciate your insights, especially as you were such a dedicated volunteer. We will continue working on improving the clarity of task distribution and shift planning, even though schedules and responsibilities are shared with volunteers in advance. We also provide information about the hostel and tasks in advance, so volunteers can decide whether or not they want to join based on that.

Kind regards 💙

Unfortunately, we left with a very bad taste in our mouths. Despite high expectations, our volunteer experience was disappointing due to the disrespectful and aggressive behavior of one staff member, which created a toxic environment. We also experienced a situation that made us feel unsafe. ( homeless people were staying and one of them touched me) Because of this, we decided to leave earlier than planned.

That said, the organization itself was kind and supportive, and we believe this was a matter of bad luck. Special thanks to Stef and Dijana for their kindness.

Dear girls,

Sorry you left this way, but we feel it's important to clarify few points. Volunteer tasks were clearly explained, yet often incomplete on your side and the conflict with staff turn up after work reminders.
During Christmas we welcomed homeless guests out of human kindness. When one behaved inappropriately, he was immediately removed. Our volunteers are like family and past experiences at our hostel show we always protect their safety.

Kind regards 💙

The hostel is the perfect place to stay if you're in Zagreb. I was very happy during my stay and would like to thank the entire staff, who were extremely kind and helped me with everything I needed from the first to the last day. I also want to thank all the volunteers who were with me during this time. I learned a lot and will remember this experience forever. I already miss it and hope to come back soon. Hvala.
