The Experience

We're an NGO working for the economic and social development of communities in the Peruvian Amazon. We focus on education, environment, ecotourism, public health and cultural exchange. The idea is to connect new language abilities with positive emotions. Volunteers can design workshops for kids such as football matches, arts and crafts, environmental education, drama and so on, to help them develop their new language in a dynamic environment.

Christian was very communicative with me. Angelo was very helpful during my stay in Codo. It's a fully immersive experience. Knowing Spanish is a huge help. Having a teaching background is helpful. For my first worldpackers experience it was definitely going into the deep end. We were able to do some cool activities during my stay. The children were very sweet and inquisitive along with the locals around town and I felt very safe their.

I really enjoyed my time at the organization. I was able to improve my Spanish, explore the surrounding areas (jungle and mountains), teach English in the local primary school and spend my time with some great people volunteering also. It wasn't what I expected completely, when I arrived I found out I wouldn't be teaching for the first 3 weeks (school holidays) and there were only 3 of us the whole time (I expected more volounteers and a more established organisation). I am very pleased with my decision to work with the organization but I would say it requires a good level of adaptability.

I had an incredible time volunteering at the organization for two months. I loved living with the other volunteers/interns and made some great friends. I really enjoyed the weekend trips to different nearby places and definitely felt immersed in the local culture. My Spanish improved so much with all the practice I got! Teaching at the school was a challenge but was also fun and rewarding. The kids were amazing but you definitely need at least some Spanish skills since their English is very basic (same with most people in the town). Overall I made some amazing memories and would definitely recommend!

I really enjoyed my stay! And i really appreciate how welcome you fell! I've learned so much Spanish, from teaching the English classes and just being in the city. I would really recommend going!

I had a great experience volunteering at the organization. The other volunteers were very relaxed and friendly, and we shared many activities together, which made the time even more enjoyable. The children at the local school are amazing, and I am confident that teaching them English will open up valuable opportunities for their future. Codo del Pozuzo is a small authentic Peruvian town surrounded by beautiful nature.
