Program Details

Worldpackers are expected to work 18 hours plus host &/or participate in one social activity each week. Our hostel has a max occupancy of 70 guests. Depending on the time of year, the shifts can be extremely busy or slow. During our peak season (May-Sept) we could potentially have 44 check-outs in one day, although 20-30 is more common. That means no down time during shifts; we are all hustling and working hard. We are fully staffed during the summer with 8-10 volunteers and 2-3 full time staff.
Our off-season (Nov-March) is much slower as we might only have a handful of guests in-house. This means our team is 3-6 volunteers, but we're still working hard, diving in to more deep cleaning.
The shoulder seasons are somewhere in between.
Whatever the season, our goal is to offer a diverse and fun work environment that values individuality, experiences, connections, and adventure!

Activities & Shift

Cleaning bathrooms, making beds, washing and folding linens and towels, vacuuming, sweeping/mopping etc.
Shifts are mid-day, typically scheduled between 10:30am-2:30pm. Schedule includes four 4-hour shifts and one 2-3 hour fun activity (game night, karaoke, hike, pancake breakfast) for a total of 18 hours per week.
Shift hours start and end times may change seasonally and on our busiest days hours may be extended to task completion.
