We are ramping up for our upcoming season -- so come join us now while there are still positions available :) We are a growing travelers hostel/hotel hybrid located *in* the French Quarter, just two blocks from Bourbon Street - and we need awesome volunteers who want to grow with us! Overall this was a really amazing experience. I had so much fun and felt very welcomed by the hosts. The work is about 4-5 hours a day and is mostly housekeeping, and interacting with guests. The rest of the time is very open ended so you can basically do whatever you want. They have a happy hour at 7pm each night where guests receive a free beer or soda, and it is a nice chance to talk withthe hostel people. Occasionally on the weekends, there were events where staff would get to choose a bar or live music venue to take the guests to. This was a lot of fun, and I did wish there were more of these.

It was a great pleasure to be part of the hostelHostelthe hostel family. Time went by fast and the only thing I regret is that I could not stay longer: one month wasn't enough for me in CHH NOLA, where I felt like home. I am thankful to the CHH management team and staff members for having granted me such an enriching and wonderful experience and hope to come back soon. CHH NOLA is safe, well equipped and the location couldn't be better: in the French quarter. The working hours allow us to get to know NOLA. I recommend this welcoming property to do volunteering.

If you have thin skin. This is not the place for you. The manager and general manager have a very big lack of communication. If they did something and got in trouble for it, they would flip it around on you and make you feel like you did something wrong. I.e. My boss came to me saying, and these are her exact words, "now I feel like a bitch because I threw everything away" I had pulled out a bunch of toiletries that looked old.(part of my duties) Also, I got wrote up for "giving false information to a trainee" I didn't know it was wrong info, I was just trying to answer her question. BED BUGS in staff room! The host did not disclose the issue prior to my arrival, I was bitten the first night in that particular room. I was able to move to another room for a week, but then told I would not be accommodated any further. When I refused to go back to the room with the bedbugs, I was given 72 hours to vacate the premises. Also, no food other than a couple packets of Ramen and some pb & J (but no bread) for the 3 weeks I was there. Very misleading. I worked morning shift and never got to lead events, but events were not free anyway. Nothing is what was advertised, unfortunately.

Cinara replied

Hey Dawn,
I hope this finds you well. I found your bunny when I personally cleaned room F. It was between the wall and bed 8. If you send me a self addressed package I will mail him/her back to you.

Host was great, tasks were clearly outlined and the experience was nice. The host was very friendly and kind, i felt safe my entire stay as i knew the host would take any complaint about my safety seriously. This was really helpful and reassuring for a first time solo traveler.
