Volunteering at the shelter rescate was very fulfilling: we could see the impact our efforts had on the dogs in care and on the wonderful people running the organization. We got to meet other volunteers and the locals who help out at the shelter. We stayed at a nearby hostel with a generous discount (private room or dorm were available). Úrsula is a kind and caring host, she made her expectations clear and was understanding and flexible when I wasn't feeling well and needed a day off. That being said, the work is not for the faint of heart: roll up your sleeves and get ready to be dirty!

This dog shelter has every kind of dog you can possibly imagine, and each one of them is super sweet! My days in the shelter passed so quickly, i loved staying there and we even took some of the doggies on a walk on the beach. I met other great volunteers and overall it was a great experience 🥰

Volunteering here was such an amazing and unforgettable experience! I loved every moment spent with the dogs – from the playful ones to the shy ones who slowly opened up. Each had their own personality, and it was beautiful to see them shine. You can really feel how much love and care they receive. Uchi has a big heart and made a real effort to include us and show us around. It felt more like being part of a family than just volunteering. I'm leaving with so many special memories and will truly miss all the doggies ( & cuddles)💛🐾

I had the best experience volunteering with the shelter Rescate. The dogs are super friendly and sociable. Uchi is wonderful and running the shelter very well. I spent a few weeks volunteering, playing with the dogs, giving them food, water and cleaning after them. The work is easy and very rewarding and Uchi is eager to spend time with you and help you get to know the shelter. I've had two health concerns during the time i was volunteering and she was very understanding and accommodating of the fact I had to stay home for a few days to recover. The experience was wonderful, as the dogs are extremely nice and gentle. The work is even less than 3 hours a day if you work with other people, but the dogs will make you want to stay longer. They are so sweet and I will definitely come back to visit them!

This was my first volunteer experience while travelling and it was perfect! Ursula is a wonderful woman and it felt really good to help her out with taking care of the pups, it's usually just her by herself so it's really important for volunteers to help take the pressure off. The work is actually very straightforward and it doesn't take long to carry out all the daily duties, afterwhich you can spend time just hanging out with the dogs which is beautiful! They are such great characters and a joy to spend time with. I 100% reccomend this volunteer experience.

Ursula is amazing. She welcomed us with open arms and an open heart. Her house was our house, her dogs were our dogs and her friends were our friends. Every day we went to her the organization to feed the 18 dogs and to clean up everything. Ursula let us do everything by our own and we also could bring up own ideas and improvements. We also learned how to fix a wall :) we fell in love with Ursula and all her dogs <3 If you are a real dog lover and if you don't care about being dirty all day long, visit Ursula and her dog project and help the street dogs to have a better life.

You can learn so much from these dogs! An unforgettable experience. Ursula treated us like family and trusted us 100% from the beginning on. From day 1 we could take care of the dogs on ourselves, we could improve and help wherever we felt it made sense, we could connect to the dogs and managed to have an impact. It was really fulfilling and a true pleasure. Moreover, Ursula gave us recommendations to literally everything, so we could also get to know the region and get in contact with locals.
