I had the incredible opportunity to volunteer at the project Sítio the project, and my experience was truly memorable. From the first day, I was warmly welcomed with great affection and warmth by Edna and Betto. Two amazing people! Edna has exceptional skills in ecogastronomy. Betto is always willing to share his experiences about beekeeping and permaculture. I can't forget Catarina, another amazing person, in the art of planting. I thank everyone for such a meaningful experience; I am not taking away only learning, but also lasting memories.

The Sítio project gave me a purpose-driven volunteer opportunity. I could contribute with my skills to the development of an audiovisual project to present the site to the world, with total creative freedom, including the paintings made for the cultural corridor. Edna and Betto welcomed me with a lot of affection, as part of the family. I learned a lot from them, especially about permaculture and everything involved, and I loved the vision they have for the site's future!!! I carry with me a lot of learning, inspiration and gratitude. I highly recommend the experience, and Edna's food is delicious ✨🌱

Gratitude, Edna, Betto and Catarina! I lived a true immersion in agroecology and learned lessons that I will carry with me for life. With Betto, I learned about the care and management of bees from honey production, propolis and apicultural products. We carried out three agroforestry beds, from soil preparation, and we also produced bio-disinfectant and biofertilizer. Not to mention the meals prepared by Edna: INCREDIBLE, SENSATIONAL! In addition, I learned to make sourdough bread. I also thank the pets Lobo, Estrela, Pandora and Nicolau. I would recommend this volunteer program to all Worldpackers.

O espaço em si já é enriquecedor, uma verdadeira escola viva de conexão com a natureza e consigo mesmo. Durante minha estadia, pude aprender, trocar e também deixar um pouco de mim através da minha arte e trabalho. Os anfitriões Edna e Betto são acolhedores e respeitosos. A comida é boa e saudável e o espaço para dormir é bom. O sítio é muito grande para apenas um casal cuidar, quando eu cheguei as tarefas estavam muito acumuladas, principalmente os resíduos, e pra mim, esse acúmulo pode causar problemas de saúde. As tarefas se limitaram praticamente na gestão de resíduos e produção de tijolos ecológicos. A agrofloresta e horta praticamente não existe, estavam com o mato muito grande e o tempo também não ajudou para trabalharmos nessa parte, choveu todos os dias. Fiquei apenas 10 dias.

As a biologist and environmental technician, Nicole had difficulty understanding the challenges of a sustainable space, even after clear conversations about the importance of recycling and other tasks. Her emotional immaturity, lack of sociability, and judgments hindered her adaptation during the stay, and because of that we had to end it before the proposed date. For future volunteers with similar difficulties, we suggest reflecting on their own beliefs before applying.

Sem palavras! Esse foi meu primeiro voluntariado e a experiencia foi incrível. O Betto e a Edna são pessoas maravilhosas que tem muito a contribuir, fui acolhido de maneira tão calorosa que logo me senti parte integrante da família. Durante o período que fiquei no the farm sítio the farm aprendi muito sobre sustentabilidade ecológica, gestão de resíduos, alimentação saudável, como fazer produtos naturais entre outros.
