I spent an incredible five weeks behind the bar at the hostel. From my very first day, I was welcomed with open arms, and from there, friendships grew with both the team and the guests. Especially during the winter months, the work is relaxed and you get to have a really good time with the guests — playing cards, having conversations, or enjoying the weekly braai together. The team feels like a family, and you're made to feel at home from the very beginning -it really is a home far from home. The hostel is a perfect spot if you are looking for a nice, central location and a way to meet lots of different kinds of people. Being able to walk to the ocean within 10 minutes was a huge plus. I loved getting to know the regulars that stayed at the hostel and develop real friendships with many of them that I will take with me beyond the hostel. Working the bar was manageable and chill and it's easy if you have ever worked service jobs before. The trickiest part was doing cash-up the next morning because they use a written paper system rather than a digitized one so it can take a long time.

I was at the hostel for two months and had the best experience. The people at the hostel are friendly and will make your stay fun and entertaining. Lots of laughs and fun nights. The job is pretty easy and very enjoyable. The cash up the day after is sometimes complicated but mostly its chill. About the accommodation it's okay you shouldn't expect to much. The best part for me at the hostel is the vibe. People from all over the world coming together and having fun. As the bartender you get to talk to so many people and you will make many friends.

Volunteering as a bartender at the hostel was an amazing experience! The team was incredibly friendly and supportive — it truly felt like being part of a little family. I met so many interesting and kind guests from all around the world, and the atmosphere was always warm, fun, and full of good energy. The work itself was not difficult and actually very enjoyable. I was clearly instructed and felt supported every step of the way, which made the experience smooth and stress-free. The host is nice, he's especially laid-back, doesn't stress easily, and passes that calm energy on to the volunteers. Mistakes can happen and are solved together, it's not a big deal. He mostly lets you do your own thing and definitely doesn't micromanage. If you're looking to find your own rhythm, this is the perfect host.

My time at the hostel was truly amazing and I had a lot of fun at the bar playing card games, you just have to be aware that some people like to cheat hahah I met a lot of lovely people from all over the world and created good friendships. The work is easy and a lot of fun, the cash up in the morning can also be fun once you get the hang of it. I shared my room with Juliana and we harmonized perfectly and created a special bond! It was also nice to be your own DJ at the bar and Saturday's Braii night was always a good time. The team is amazing and I would love to come back!
