I can 100% recommend working with Christine. Everything was as mentioned before. The cottage for the volunteers is amazing and Stornoway has some really good bus connections to explore the rest of the island. Christine's family is so lovely and she will make sure you feel at home and part of it. I had such a great time and definitely have to come back to this beautiful island.

My month spent at the hostel was the most wonderful experience. I highly recommend volunteering and staying here. The required work is exactly as described and the environment is so warm and friendly. The hostel is kept to an exceptional standard and priority number one is having friendly interactions with all who visit. As a volunteer I was treated as an extension of the family and welcomed wholeheartedly for my volunteering stay. Immediately after leaving I was trying to find a time to go back and join the team again. A spectacular month spent in great company exploring a beautiful area.

If you don't apply to the hostel; you will be making the biggest mistake of your life! Christine is the best host you could ask for with the most homely facilities and respected work hours. I can't stress enough how often she would be concerned about us volunteers overworking even when we almost always finished early. She always communicated well in a timely manner and sought to make everyone feel comfortable. She shares lovely stories and we all get woven in to the fabric of the hostel culture! Just don't be a bad person here. I'm Stornoway Batman; always watching, always waiting.

This was our first volunteer experience and we could not have asked for a better one. We unfortunately had to cut our stay at the hostel short nevertheless we enjoyed our time there. Christine, the host, is super nice and really cares about her volunteers. The hostel and the staff cottage are really cozy and it was great that the staff had their own space for cooking and relaxing. The hours were always respected and the tasks (cleaning and working reception) weren't hard to do and well explained. We really recommend this hostel for other volunteers.

I really couldn't recommend Stornoway enough for a volunteering experience. Christine is fabulous and such a lovely person to work for. The work is easy, the hours are respected, and this gives you plenty of time to explore the incredible Outer Hebrides. Christine is flexible and encourages the staff to socialise with each other and, more importantly, to enjoy their experience. Both the hostel and the staff cottage are so cosy, which makes it feel like a home away from home! I made such lovely friends during my time there and created so many wonderful memories.
