Mr Wima, his family and all the staff made me feel really at home. There were no other volunteers for the length of my stay but i never felt lonely and had plenty to do in my off time because I was always invited somewhere. The work tasks were all pretty varied and I enjoyed seeing the process of how the coffee is made. I also had fun making some content for the plantation and meeting locals who were visiting, all of which were super friendly, curious and keen to have conversations with me. Absolutely love everyone who works here, they are a asset to the plantation. Thanks the host

Hati brought such a lovely energy to her time at De Karanganjar. She was friendly, hardworking, adaptable, and always respectful of the local culture. One of our favorite moments was our treasure hunt, made even more fun because Hati and our CEO both love UFO stories! Hati also won a beautiful De Karanganjar T-shirt, making the adventure even more memorable. Thank you, Hati, for being part of our journey. We really enjoyed having you here and hope you’ll come back to visit us again!

I loved my time at the host! The whole staff was really welcoming, I had the opportunity to try different tasks which made the experience way more intresting, the accomodations were really comfortable and the food was delicious. Plus, Mr Wima was a great host and went out of his way to make sure we had a good time. One of my favorite volunteering experiences so far!

Momo was a wonderful part of the De Karanganjar family — friendly, hardworking, and always bringing positive energy. We truly appreciated how well she adapted while respecting the local culture.

We’ll never forget the special goat satay moment 😄 Thank you for all your help and kindness, Momo. Hope to see you again at De Karanganjar someday!

Warm Regards ,

Personally my favorite Worldpackers experience so far. The people made me feel at home. It was very welcoming. You also get to experience Javanese culture in a way I never thought I would. The host sometimes does tour guides and you'll learn more about Blitar. When it comes to the tasks it is mainly working at the cafe in the weekends, weekdays can vary from being at the cafe, social work, cleaning or helping at the plantation.

We were received so warmly at the host. It was truly like making new family. Pak Wima, his wife and kid are so lovely. It felt like we were the first volunteer ever, when they've already received so many. We felt respected as volunteers and it was as much about our experience, as about what we had to offer. All the staff was also amazing. We'll miss everyone! The work varied but often we served in the cafe, which at times could be slow. We did cross-culture work, a podcast, weeding, and cleaning the property. We shared private room with bathroom, which was simple but nice!

I had a really wonderful volunteering experience at the host! The tasks consist of mostly helping serve customers in the cafe, as well as helping with some cleaning/gardening and sorting beans. The hours were well communicated and respected. The entire staff is super amazing, Mr. Wima and his family are truly wonderful people and really make you feel super welcome. You get to learn a lot and also have a lot of time to relax. I would definitely recommend this position to anyone! It's a beautiful location and you have opportunities to see the surrounding area and try lots of local food

We had a positive experience at the host. The whole facility is beautifully maintained. Special thanks to Mr. Wima who made us feel very welcome while sharing many insights about Indonesian culture. We also enjoyed the cultural exchange event and time around the kindergarten. Most tasks focused on maintaining the facility and around the cafè. There were some opportunities in the nursery tent and factory, but coffee knowledge sharing was a bit limited. Communication with some staff could sometimes be challenging due to language barriers, but everyone stayed friendly and welcoming.

We left 3 days in. Our largest issue was how we were utilized by the team & treated by locals. We were constantly stared at, having our photos taken without permission, or even a conversation. We have both traveled extensively & spent years volunteering in rural Africa without ever experiencing the amount of attention we got here. We felt like a spectacle only there to entertain & be an attraction. Mr. Wima & his staff were very nice, & always helpful, but this experience was certainly not for us, & we would strongly caution anyone who does not want to constantly be the center of attention.

We’re not exactly sure what you meant by “utilized by the team.” A volunteer program is about both sides benefiting. From the start, our profile stated that local visitors may be interested in interacting or taking photos, and if that feels uncomfortable, this project may not be for you. This was also outlined in the cultural guidelines. We can’t control how visitors act sometimes there’s more attention, sometimes less and many volunteers have embraced this dynamic as part of cultural immersion.

I had a great volunteering experience at the host. The work was wonderfully diverse, mostly helping in the cafe, but also assisting with coffee bean production and tasks around the museums. I truly learned a lot, not only about coffee but also about the local culture and history. The whole team is incredibly warm-hearted; I felt well taken care of and really enjoyed working with everyone

I had an amazing experience at the host Koffie Plantage. From the very first moment, I felt warmly welcomed — the team always made an effort to include me, keep me engaged, and still give me enough time for myself. During my two weeks at the plantation, I learned so much about both the local culture and coffee. The program they prepared for me was wonderfully diverse: I visited a local high school, worked in the café, enjoyed a coffee tasting, and more. I truly recommend this place to anyone who wants to relax, learn and immerse themselves in the local culture.

I had a great time at the coffee plantation! Most of my tasks involved working in the cafe, just running drinks and chatting to staff. Lots and lots of photos with local visitors! I was unfortunately the only volunteer at the time, but Mr Wima and his family welcomed me beautifully. Would definitely recommend not just as a beautiful place to be, but also with lovely people and interaction with locals. If you go, please give lots of love to the beautiful puppies Poppy and Chocco. Thank you all 😁
