I really enjoyed my time volunteering at the hostel! I was there during low season, so the work was pretty chill and the schedule was easy to work around. The free drinks were such a nice extra, and Flor & Mary's breakfast was amazing!!! It was also a great place to practice both Spanish and English. The other volunteers and guests were lovely, and Gianna, who works there, was one of the sweetest people I met and someone I really connected with. The only thing to keep in mind is that the volunteer dorm is small and has no windows, so it can get warm, but there are fans :)

My experience at the hostel was amazing, I got to do so much with my time in Oaxaca while being part of an awesome team! The work was not too hard and the hours were nice! The atmosphere was relaxed fun and friendly :) The manager Yoka is so sweet and awesome to work with, patient and fun! I'd definitely recommend the hostel to anyone!

I had a wonderful three weeks volunteering at the hostel! I'm so grateful for the friendships and connections I made with both volunteers and guests. A special thank you to Yoka for her warm energy, constant support, and for always making us feel cared for. The tasks were easy and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. I also loved connecting with the local community, especially the salsa scene, which taught me so much about Latin music and dance. Oaxaca once again brought me healing, connection, and beautiful epiphanies. I highly recommend the hostel and would happily return! ❤️🙏🏽

Absolutely loved my time at Maka Hostel. Yoka and the team are just so lovely and super welcoming from the day you arrive. The hostel is at a great location and has all the necessary facilities needed. The work itself is pretty chill, and Yoka is always there to help clear some doubts or clarify things if needed. This was my first time volunteering on Worldpackers (and at a hostel), and it was great! Yokari, the manager, is the heart of the hostel, and she's made it wonderful for volunteers and guests alike. She's there almost every day, and is extremely responsive and open to helping if you need anything; she's also open to feedback and was very supportive when I had a family emergency. My love to the other volunteers: Koen, Lucas, Stefi, Azul, Vale, and Pepe; I was so comfortable thanks to you all. For anyone thinking of volunteering at the hostel, do!
