I had a great two weeks in Manaus. The responsibility of reception is simple: I sat at the desk from 6pm to midnight 5 days a week, which was good for exploring during the day and getting work done at night. My only complaint is the loud music blasting from two nearby bars but that can't be helped. Valda and all the staff are very friendly and flexible, and I was able to group my days off to go on overnight tours in the Amazon. The cat, turtles and bunnies were adorable. You do need to speak Portuguese, and I struggled a bit at first but it was great practice. Muito obrigada por tudo!! <3

My stay at the hostel was a chaotic. I was meant to stay at Aldeia I, but this was not communicated to me well, even though I asked the hosts. My tasks shifted from cleaning to check-ins, which was tough since this required me to speak more Portuguese & the owner also only spoke Portuguese. I asked to move to Aldeia I, but the owner forgot to ask the other hostel. I improved my Portuguese and appreciated Dona Val & Angela's support, & tasks were light. But overall organization needs work—especially communication& free day scheduling. Also I stayed until 27th but this was not changed in my prof

Valda and Iago welcomed us warmly. I was a second time volunteer and inexperienced, but they were kind enough to guide me. Also, other volunteers are friendly. It is recommended!

This was my first volunteer experience and it was amazing! Manus is an amazing city, the hostel has an excellent location and is close to interesting places (museums, restaurants, theaters, parks) Valda was an excellent host, she taught me how to clean and organize the hostel, she also taught me about the importance of cleanliness in a hostel. My fellow volunteers were excellent, they are now my friends and also I was able to make friends with several guests who stayed there. All the requirements were met and the stay at the hostel exceeded my expectations, it was a home for me! Love it!!

It was a great volunteering experience at hostel 01, the location is very good and the manager David is a great person, always present in day-to-day life, explaining clearly the tasks of volunteering and providing all the necessary support. The work at the reception is quite easy to perform, the schedules are flexible, and there is plenty of time to get to know the city. I would recommend it to anyone visiting Manaus.

Volunteering at Aldeia I was very good; the mansion is old but well preserved; I stayed at the reception desk and the tasks are quite calm; David and Rafael are the hosts and they are very flexible regarding schedules and days off. I highly recommend this volunteering.

My volunteering at the hostel was one of the best I've had in this traveler's life that I've pursued through volunteering over the last 3 years. The tasks, schedules, benefits and days off are respected, breakfast is great, Deivis (manager) is very respectful, nice, I could enjoy Manaus a lot, and I made incredible friendships with people from all over the world, literally! haha

This volunteering experience was my first and could not have been better. David and his team welcomed me very warmly, and I was always treated with great respect. The work hours and days were respected, and there was also flexibility when I needed it. A relaxed, calm, respectful environment. The hostel's location is excellent, close to everything and very safe. I am leaving, but a little piece of my heart stays in this place! Thank you for everything!!! s2
