The Experience

Assist us in organizing and cleaning the first Aldeia Hostel located in the historic center of Manaus. It's in a house over 100 years old, built in the Portuguese style during the rubber boom in the early 1900s. Our activities primarily involve cleaning wooden floors, rooms, bathrooms, and common areas. Additionally, spending some hours at the reception. If you have skills in maintenance, repairs, and gardening, they would be highly welcomed.

This was my first volunteer experience and it was amazing! Manus is an amazing city, the hostel has an excellent location and is close to interesting places (museums, restaurants, theaters, parks) Valda was an excellent host, she taught me how to clean and organize the hostel, she also taught me about the importance of cleanliness in a hostel. My fellow volunteers were excellent, they are now my friends and also I was able to make friends with several guests who stayed there. All the requirements were met and the stay at the hostel exceeded my expectations, it was a home for me! Love it!!

Sono stato qui due settimane e mi sono trovato molto bene i primi giorni con Iago, il ragazzo responsabile del hostel, è sempr stato attento e educato nello spiegare le attività da fare. Ahimè. Non ho mai visto la proprietaria (host) nel mio soggiorno,peccato. Hanno accettato una signora che era ospite lì e ha portato energia negativa nell'ambiente con richieste strane e fuori da quello che si può definire "volontario". Esiste aldeia 1 e 2 , io sono stato nel 1. Avrei desiderato che il host fosse passato almeno per salutare noi due volontari. Nulla. Tutto sommato è andata bene. Danke 🙏🤗

Infelizmente minha experiência no hostel não foi positiva. A anfitriã Valda não quis cumprir o combinado divulgado na vaga. Além de eu ter ultrapassado a carga horária do voluntariado, a anfitriã combinou os dias livres verbalmente e depois na véspera disse que eu deveria trabalhar, ou seja, se dependesse dela eu trabalharia todos os dias sem nenhuma folga, o que fere as regras do Worldpackers. A anfitriã não entendeu a proposta da plataforma. Falta organização e comunicação entre funcionários do hostel para informar chegada de hóspedes, tarefas, horário de trabalho etc. Não recomendo.

Meus dias no hostel foram ótimos. Tanto dona Valda como Yasmim e o restante da equipe me fizeram sentir em casa. A divisão das tarefas é feita de forma transparente e leva em consideração também as necessidades do voluntário. Fiz o meu voluntariado trabalhando e não tive qualquer dificuldade em conciliar as duas atividades e conhecer bastante de Manaus-AM. Por fim quero agradecer a oportunidade e torcer para que os caminhos da vida façam com que nos encontremos novamente.
