We had a great time at the guest house. Dalila was an amazing host with great energy and a really great vision. Our work included building a patio, prepping walls to be painted, painting, cement work, organization, and photography. We applied with the understanding that we would be mainly doing photography and social media work but she asked us if we could help with some other stuff too. We ended up only really helping with photography on the last 2 days. That would be our only negative with our experience here. The Property is beautiful and there is lots to do in Itaipu. My experience at the guest house had very different sides. The environment is mystical and in contact with nature, and the children and the other volunteers made everything very special for me. Even with the host's flexibility, I felt that the tasks could be distributed in a lighter and more balanced way, oriented toward the collective and in a horizontal manner. At times, I felt more like an employee than a volunteer. I think the project could bring more clarity and humanity, truly reinforcing the spirit of volunteering.
