The room volunteers slept in was full with mild when I first arrived, and is super cold compared guest rooms. The host will literally yell and harass you in front of everyone because extra sheets of laundry into the dryer, need to show some more respect. But the travellers I met while staying there were all cool people.
I was looking for an international atmosphere where to perfectionate my English and meet people from all over the world and I can say that I found it. I spent one month at abHostel and it was definetly worth it. I learned about how to run a business, how to treat with people of many different nationalities and how to form a great team with other volunteers. The owners are very flexible and considerate, always working on making the hostel the coziest. The job is not that hard and you really have free time for discovering Antwerp and other cities. Tnk you Greg and Birgit, will be back!!

Abhostel was great! The place is so nice and cozy, and the other members of staff are so friendly, you quickly feel like at home. The shifts are quite easy and is a very calm environment. Also Antwerp is great and the neighborhood is really cool, a lot to do and see. I learned a lot about starting a hostel and about belgian beers. Thanks G&B see you next time!
The hostel is very cozy. Its design makes you feel at home. Unfortunately, I could not stay long. I came eager to work, however, there was no real training. The workers have to teach each other, which was stressful because the owners are really particular and I was constantly anxious about doing everything right. When I asked for better training, I was mocked and asked if I was stupid. I left after a week because of irreconcilable cultural differences, ineffective communication, and unfriendly treatment from the owners. Bummer, because I really enjoyed meeting the travelers.
Come and meet travellers from all over the world while tasting the best beers (even oir own craftbeer) in the best atmosphere! We re in the arty part of Antwerp, a lot of young people live here. So a lot of things going on, small festivals, live gigs, free yoga in the park, bbq s,....About the host
