The experience

Help us grow food and take care of the land at Sukia Kin: garden beds, compost, planting, trail and water-system maintenance, and the small daily jobs that keep an off-grid property running. Hands-on, outdoors, mostly mornings, with the team. Ideal if you have some gardening or permaculture experience — or real curiosity and the will to get your hands dirty. Off shift: rivers, waterfalls, ocean-view lookouts, jungle gym.

Program Details

You stay in the volunteer house inside the property: three rooms, max two people per room (bunk beds), electricity, water, good wifi and an equipped kitchen to cook your own meals. On the property you have a jungle gym you can use any time, and we run salsa/bachata classes and, now and then, martial arts sessions with the team. Working the land here means learning our permaculture approach by doing — how much you take from it is up to you.

Activities & Shift

Around 25 hours a week, 2 days off. Most work happens in the morning (roughly 7:00–12:00) before the heat: garden beds, compost, planting and harvesting, clearing trails, keeping the water system and paths in shape, plus the small daily jobs of an off-grid property. Afternoons are usually yours: rivers, waterfalls, lookouts, gym. Drake Bay and the beach are 20 minutes away.

Rules

No drugs — non-negotiable. Respect the forest: we live inside 50,000 m² of rainforest, so no littering, careful with fire, water and power (we're off-grid on solar and our own spring). Keep shared spaces clean and sort your trash — we separate and carry everything out ourselves. Respect for guests, the team and the neighbors is the base of everything here. We're a young team, we like to go out now and then and we even teach dance classes, so bring good energy — just show up on time and clear-headed for your shift.
