The time with JoaquĆn and his family was truly unique. We were doing different tasks during our stay, such as picking pine nuts in the forrest, labeling products or cleaning out the production space to make it ready for winter time to start production of the pine nuts. We also spend some nice time with his family and friends, getting to know them. In our freetime we could explore the nature around and did a little cycling tour with a view on the Sierra Nevada glacier which was incredible. Sometimes our freetime wasn't really made clear, but just make sure and ask JoaquĆn beforehand.

It was a very special experience. šŸ’–During my stay, I learned a bit about history and Mapuche culture and I learned about pine nut production. The family welcomed me with a lot of warmth, was always attentive and helped me with what I needed, making me feel at home. I recommend it to anyone seeking a true cultural immersion. Cachai??šŸ˜‚

First time I volunteered and it was a house incredible, the house is beautiful and without a doubt it was an opportunity to know part of AraucanĆa and get a little closer to the lifestyle there, JoaquĆn and his family welcomed me super well, I felt like one more of the family immediately. We shared with JoaquĆn's nephews that no doubt made the house even better. I carry them in my heart and I am immensely grateful that they opened their home and their project to be part ā¤ļø Chaltu!!

Joaquin is an excellent host! I am vegan and although he was not familiar with that lifestyle, he was always concerned about my nutrition. The tasks were very entertaining and it is a very welcoming home. In Lonquimay, wherever you look there is beauty. Joaquin's nephews, with whom we worked, were the best part of this experience, very friendly and funny.
With Joaquin we learned a lot about Mapuche culture; he and his family were always open to tell us about their traditions and to answer questions and curiosities that arose for me regarding the culture. Beautiful experience

Speaking about this family is so easy because, as I told them, I was lucky to have them as my first volunteering experience. The people I met are extremely wonderful, Mati, Jose, Babi, and of course the hosts Joaquin and Andim šŸ«°šŸ½
The experience was incredible, the cultural immersion was very good, I practiced Spanish, learned about another native language and local customs, and from the beginning I felt like part of the family. I will keep it forever in my heart and I am very grateful for all the care and affection they have shown me since the beginning.

From the first day they made me feel at home, with warmth and affection in every gesture. I arrived as a volunteer and left feeling part of a precious family. I am very grateful and happy with this new home kept in my heart, I learned a lot about the local culture and the products made from pine nuts, thanks to Joaquin and Angi for all the days giving their best, for the trust and the patience. In addition I had the opportunity to meet wonderful people and places šŸ„¹šŸ’ššŸ¤ MaƱum 🩷🩷🩷

Lonqui is one of those places you arrive at and don't want to leave ever, and if you add that you find a family like JoaquĆn and Angy’s, even less so. I was there almost a month where we shared laughs, chats, and matĆ©. The project they are carrying forward is very valuable, due to their commitment to caring for the environment and for what they teach us through their home. We have a lot to learn from those who work every day to make a more responsible use of resources. It is a very enriching encounter; sharing also with Yote, Mati and Barbi has been one of the loveliest moments; it's a family I will cherish

My the home was very lovely; JoaquĆn and his family allowed us to be part of their project, community and family. We were given the opportunity to know the culture from within; we made friends (highlight Yote and Mati (JoaquĆn's nephews) with whom we shared many experiences, conversations, culture, etc.), we learned about new places, history, typical foods, the local language, their way of life and more. I think it's a the home that leaves you wanting more and more, because you don't stop learning, and it's a place where there is enormous cultural wealth. Grateful for so much warmth ā™„ļø

First, we want to thank JoaquĆn and Angie for welcoming us into their home as if we were part of the family. It was a very beautiful and meaningful home, in which we learned a lot from them, from their way of life and from the Pehuenche culture. We took away memories, conversations and learnings that we truly value. We appreciate the trust, the hospitality and the affection with which they welcomed us, chaltumay!šŸ™ŒšŸ»
