The Experience

We are looking for dynamic volunteers to join us in developing pine-nut products, from dehulling and roasting to the production of flours, coffee, preserves, and chocolates. Our project stands out for its sustainability and circular economy, turning pine nuts into a variety of delicious and environmentally conscious products. We make cookies, chocolate, and many other pine-nut products.

The time with Joaquín and his family was truly unique. We were doing different tasks during our stay, such as picking pine nuts in the forrest, labeling products or cleaning out the production space to make it ready for winter time to start production of the pine nuts. We also spend some nice time with his family and friends, getting to know them. In our freetime we could explore the nature around and did a little cycling tour with a view on the Sierra Nevada glacier which was incredible. Sometimes our freetime wasn't really made clear, but just make sure and ask Joaquín beforehand.

It was a very special experience. 💖During my stay, I learned a bit about history and Mapuche culture and I learned about pine nut production. The family welcomed me with a lot of warmth, was always attentive and helped me with what I needed, making me feel at home. I recommend it to anyone seeking a true cultural immersion. Cachai??😂

First time I volunteered and it was a house incredible, the house is beautiful and without a doubt it was an opportunity to know part of Araucanía and get a little closer to the lifestyle there, Joaquín and his family welcomed me super well, I felt like one more of the family immediately. We shared with Joaquín's nephews that no doubt made the house even better. I carry them in my heart and I am immensely grateful that they opened their home and their project to be part ❤️ Chaltu!!

Joaquin is an excellent host! I am vegan and although he was not familiar with that lifestyle, he was always concerned about my nutrition. The tasks were very entertaining and it is a very welcoming home. In Lonquimay, wherever you look there is beauty. Joaquin's nephews, with whom we worked, were the best part of this experience, very friendly and funny.
With Joaquin we learned a lot about Mapuche culture; he and his family were always open to tell us about their traditions and to answer questions and curiosities that arose for me regarding the culture. Beautiful experience

Speaking about this family is so easy because, as I told them, I was lucky to have them as my first volunteering experience. The people I met are extremely wonderful, Mati, Jose, Babi, and of course the hosts Joaquin and Andim 🫰🏽
The experience was incredible, the cultural immersion was very good, I practiced Spanish, learned about another native language and local customs, and from the beginning I felt like part of the family. I will keep it forever in my heart and I am very grateful for all the care and affection they have shown me since the beginning.
