I found working with the team to be very easy and they were very kind. This experience is great if you truly want to learn how a hostel/the guest house operates as both Soukaina and Hamid are very hands on and willing to explain to you what they do. The work itself is very simple and quite social media centred. I came with the intention of winding down, practicing surfing and interacting with new people - all of which I did! the the guest house has busy and quiet periods so as long as you are willing to go out in your free time and speak to new people you will have no issue making friends! Thanks guys

This hostel is very nice, as far as work is concerned everything went as it should. The only and from my point of view quite big problem was that Sokaina is not communicative and she is very money oriented, so once you da small good deed for a guest it's a problem. There is just a lack of love for people. I enjoyed my stay very much, but only because I was lucky enough to meet Kasia who volunteered here with me and she became a very good friend of mine and we had fun together with the guests. Sokaina, however, talked to us on a friendly level only occasionally.

Thank you for your feedback, we’re glad you liked the guest house. Soukaina’s role is to manage operations professionally, ensuring everything runs smoothly. As a volunteer, part of the experience is learning about hospitality and business. Services like laundry and surfboard rentals are paid, so offering them for free impacts the guest house. It’s not about being "money-oriented" but about maintaining fairness for all guests. Soukaina ensures a balance between warmth and professionalism.

My stay at the guest house was grate! I had the opportunity to improve and enjoy my passion for photography along with being immersed in the culture in a family environment. I had the necessity to leave one week early but they were super understandable with me and made the process less stressful!

My stay at the the guest house was an incredible one. I felt very welcome and my tasks were clear. I felt like I had a good partnership with the hosts and I would've loved to even stay longer but my time did not allow for it. I recommend us stay here if you want to be an acute beach town, famous for surfing and a comfortable place to stay with very friendly people!

As a small guesthouse, there isn't a lot of work which was pic/video shooting, editing, reception, painting, and it's all about communicating with the hosts who are flexible and supportive. Volunteers are mostly alone, there's not much to do in a small village, and it's not always easy to get along with the guests, but still I've made some great time with some! You'll have a lot of free time, and if you have own things to do or are more creative and social, you'll be able to fill your time well. I personally had to spend a bit more on food, but I would recommend here to surfing lovers.

Thank you for your feedback. We’d like to take the opportunity to clarify a few things.

First, we want to remind you that you were welcomed here as a volunteer because you specifically reached out after a difficult experience at your previous placement. We accepted you into our guesthouse because we believed it could be a good fit for you, and we made sure to offer a safe, supportive environment.

As stated from the beginning, our volunteer arrangement is only 5 hours of work per day, leaving ample time to explore the area, enjoy the beach, or engage in creative activities. While we understand that everyone has different expectations, we are located in Imessouane, one of the world’s top surfing destinations, with plenty of opportunities to meet people, relax, or enjoy nature. It’s not our responsibility to manage your free time—it’s up to each volunteer to take the initiative to enjoy what the location has to offer.

You mentioned having some difficulties getting along with guests, but this is a part of any hospitality role, and we did our best to ensure you had a comfortable and respectful environment. However, as we’ve said before, if you ever felt that this wasn’t the right fit, you were always free to leave. We even offered you the chance to cancel your trip on several occasions, but you chose to stay for a full month, which shows that despite your challenges, you saw value in staying with us.

We always aim to create a positive experience for our volunteers, and we’re sorry that this wasn’t fully what you were hoping for. However, we feel that part of volunteering is learning how to manage your time and expectations, and we believe Imessouane offers enough for anyone who is willing to seek it out.

We genuinely hope you’ve taken something positive away from your time here, and we wish you all the best in your future travels.
