Volunteering at the hostel was a fun and memorable experience! Cheezuru-san, the manager, and most of the staff were very welcoming and caring. I had the pleasure of meeting some wonderful people, both volunteers, locals, and staff, and I'm really grateful for the connections and memories I made along the way. That said, the work at this hostel is not for the faint-hearted, as it can be quite demanding. However, the hostel is very clean, conveniently located, and offers easy access to food, both in the hostel and nearby.

I worked during the busy days of summer in august and the not so busy days of early september. It was definitly hot but knowing at the end of the shift i could refresh and go out with my friends i made or eat delicious dinner from the chef (wonderful guy, great singer also) always gave me energy. The work is simple and short hours. Plenty of time to visit the islands, eat wonderful udon, go on the train and visit local temples. All and all, i'll definitly come back!

Working together with volunteers from other countries was a wonderful experience. Spending time with them was the best time of my life. The hostel was a social, quite adequate, and fun place. We became friends with the guests who came. The hostel chef brings everyone together. On top of that, he even gave a live concert! Chizuru-san was very attentive, and her communication with the volunteers was excellent. It is the best place to choose for wonderful friendships and a great experience!

It was truly an unforgettable experience. I made so many amazing memories and met some incredible people along the way. We laughed, had fun, explored new places, and most importantly, we were always there for each other.

I really hope we get to see each other again someday. And if you’re reading this review, don’t think twice — come stay at Hostel Jaqa! You won’t regret it! ❤️

My time at the hostel was so much fun that I really regretted only booking for a month. Chizuru took us to a local matsuri, so we were able to fully enjoy spots that only locals know about and experience the authentic local vibe. The Japanese staff members I worked with, as well as the staff from all over the world, were so kind, sweet, and adorable. We stayed up chatting until late every night, and I will never forget it for the rest of my life. 😭

My stay at the hostel was absolutely wonderful! Chizuru is so welcoming and makes great effort to introduce you to her community through her friends, and everyone is lovely and willing to chat. The work hours are super chill, and you've got plenty of time to do your own thing after work. If you're lucky, snack man might visit and bring donuts or mochi! I even had time to attend dance classes once per week. Takamatsu as a whole is also a lovely place to stay. 10/10, I would definitely do it again!

I really enjoyed my time at the hostel. Everyone was super friendly and helpful- both volunteers and local staff were great to work with and made me feel right at home immediately. Chizuru was a big part of this. She was extremely welcoming and patient with me. Additionally I was able to meet locals from the area through the hostel that made my experience even better. Takamatsu is also a great city. Lots of stuff to do and great places to eat. The work itself is straightforward and went by quickly. I couldn't have asked for a better first experience!

My experience at the hostel has been incredible in many ways. I'm very grateful that this was my first volunteering experience. The volunteers stay together in rooms on the fourth floor, which really helps create a strong sense of community among us. The staff are very friendly, and there are always travelers staying at the hostel. The work is very well organized, although after a long time it can become repetitive and sometimes a bit demanding, since it involves changing a lot of beds and cleaning. However, it's definitely worth it.

Estrella was a wonderful volunteer at Hostel JAQ takamatsu! She was incredibly respectful, adaptable, and brought a great energy to our community. Even when the housekeeping and bed-changing got demanding and repetitive, she kept a great attitude and worked hard. We highly recommend her to any future hosts!

I loved being a part of the hostel staff. Chizuru and all of the local staff were so friendly and inviting, and when a problem would arise they were always good at communicating and solving it. This place is a great environment for meeting all kinds of people, and will forever be grateful of the connections I made.
