The Experience

Ciao! Collina Felice is a country-side co-housing project on the slopes of Mount Etna, established in 2023. We are a growing group of 5 people (and 13 animals) with the aim to integrate urban and countryside-lifestyle. Permanent residents are Paola (39) and Leona (35). Two years ago we started to take care of our abandoned orchard. Meanwhile we're renovating the houses, re-storing the land and taking care of our animals.

Warm, welcoming, open-minded, peaceful and empowering — that's how I would describe this experience! Paola and Leona are wonderful hosts who quickly became friends. From the very first night, we felt truly welcomed and accepted. They speak English, French, Italian and German, so communication is always easy. The work is varied and depends on the farm's needs, which keeps every day interesting. The farm itself is beautiful, with a stunning view of Etna. There are also 4 dogs, 8 cats and 2 horses, all friendly and cuddly (just remember your allergy pills!). I highly recommend this experience :)

This was my first vonlonteering experience and I am very happy that I chose this project for it. Leona and Paola truly welcomed us into their life on the farm and taught us a great deal about the way they live there. The work was not difficult or too complicated and the hours varied each day. What made this experience especially valuable was they way they integrated us into their lifestyle in Sicily and the warmth they showed us, we truly felt like a part of the family. I will always remember this experience and recommend it to anyone who wants to become part of a community like this.
