I had a great time at the community! Learned a lot of things, especially with gardening tools. But whatever you want to learn there, you will get teached nicely, and there is much to learn!! I also learned how to do my own veggie gardens and that is really helpful for my future🤩☘️🥬 I got along with everyone really good, I was at a quiet time there with not so many volunteers and could focus on myself and enjoyed Sicily. From the moment I arrived, Mauna welcomed me into the community. I was quite shy, but his openness & kind encouragement helped me come out of my shell & reconnect w personal interests I'd forgotten. I really felt part of a tribe here, included & valued. I quickly learned many skills, like foraging, cooking, living off-grid (i.e. rainwater for daily use, making conserves from foraged olives etc). Mauna is a generous host, passionate about sharing his knowledge on ecology, holistic practices & more. He also offered Reiki, which I found deeply healing. Feel v grateful for the special experience

I spent two weeks at the Shangrilà eco-village and it was a very interesting and instructive experience. Mauna is a very knowledgeable person and very good at making you feel at home. I spent some pleasant days immersed in nature and silence.
Even though it was my first experience in this type of village, Mauna always tried to involve me in daily and spiritual activities. He was very patient in explaining my tasks and very open to discussion. This certainly helped make this experience authentic and truly impactful. I thank Mauna for this opportunity and hope to return soon!

I loved my time at shangri-la! everyday was full of learning and i felt greatful every single day to be there. From the stunning nature and amazing seaview to the insightful conversations i was able to have with mauna. i was able to learn a lot about gardening, cooking, spirituality, sustainabilty and all about ecovillages :) i totally recommend the community

My experience in the community was very rewarding. I learned many new things. You can see a project that aims to create a sustainable community environment. The tasks I carried out as a job were very fun. Mauna is a very kind person and is always willing to help you. The location It is beautiful, you have a spectacular landscape from the moment you get up in the morning until you go to bed at night, a very good experience to which I hope to return one day.

The community is an interesting project, my interest in volunteering at this place was to learn about organic gardens and a sustainable life, Mauna has always been respectful and available to answer any questions about the topic. I respect Mauna's concept of the project as a 'tribal community', but personally the repetitiveness of the topic in a repetitive way seemed unnecessary to me and at times it provoked discomfort as a woman. Overall I had a positive experience, the place has a spectacular view and the project offers many opportunities.

At 57, I’ve just had my first woofing experience, and I must admit that what I’ve just experienced makes me want to do it again… The place and the site are incredible: pure nature surrounded by olive trees, a sea view with a dive in less than a quarter of an hour, Ragusa, Caltagirone... nearby.
It's a small setup, which suited me perfectly.
The work is varied, and everyone can find their place, learn new skills while contributing (olives, compost, repair, maintenance...)
