I truly had such a wonderful experience during my time volunteering with the reserve. Not only did I feel so welcome but I also got to learn so much about the culture and the amazing wildlife on land and in the reserve. Even though I was only there for two weeks, I felt so at home being next to the reserve every day. I had so much fun and laughter with everyone there and I know it's an experience that will stay with me forever. Truly such a tranquil and beautiful island with the most amazing people. I will definitely be coming back one day!

I had the most incredible experience volunteering here. 2 weeks was not enough! I could spend a life time there. The whole the reserve team are not only the loveliest people I have met but also made me feel like apart of the family. They are so passionate about the reserve, I learnt so much and I will forever be grateful for the experience and I'm planning on going back next year!! 1000000% recommend to everyone!!

You came as a volunteer… but left as family.
Two weeks was never enough for a soul like yours the ocean felt you, and it will remember you. Your impact lives on in every wave, every reef, every life you touched. This is not goodbye… it’s a “see you home again next year.” We will take care your baby coral💙

This was an experience that allow you to connected to the reserve and your peace of mind: The work here is heavily rely on the weather. Monica is knowledgeable, caring, and passionate about what she is doing, same does her team. It is a place you will learn to respect the reserve, connect with wonderful local communities, and work with environmental enthusiasts.

The experience was beautiful and I will surely remember everyone and everything with love. As a tip though, proactivity is key to enjoy the experience, as very often nobody will be telling you what to do or give you specific tasks/ instructions. But the environment is truly beautiful, the staff even more special, and there is a lot of beautiful wildlife and flora for you to learn from; lots of time to spend in the reserve if you care about learning from it. I personally suggest staying more than two weeks to properly get used to the lifestyle and make the best out of it (bring extra proteins!!)

At its best, the island is a place to slow down, see the best sunsets ever, and connect with global volunteers. At its worst, the mosquitos are eating you alive, the rain seems endless, and you don't feel like it's what you signed up for. Recs for future volunteers: bring long sleeves, quick dry clothing, and lots of bug spray. Bring activities to do because there's a lot of time where there's nothing to work on. Expect unpredictability, plans change quickly and often. I'm not upset about free time. I'm disappointed because I wanted to make a difference and I don't feel I did.

I had a beautiful time thanks to Monica and the whole team at the reserve. Weather prevented me from participating in any coral or jungle related activities so my work included cleaning up the beach and decorating with plenty of down time. I most appreciated their commitment to the reserve which was reflected from the entirely solar-powered energy grid to the limiting of food waste. Accomodations are basic but comfortable and the food was simple but tasty. (No fridge yet so fresh produce options are limited.) They plan to expand in the new year so this may improve even more!

What an experience at the reserve! I can definitely recommend this volunteering program to people who want to deeply connect with the reserve on land and sea, have a very local experience and get to know the lovely local team, spend time on a very peaceful tropical island and also love to have some time for themselves and lastly looking for an adventure which also gets you out of your comfort zone sometimes. The rest you gonna feel when you're there! The team of the reserve is very easy to talk to and they will be always there to help you. Feel also free to send a message to me. Enjoy! :)

Being a part of the reserve has been one of the best experiences of my life. Monica's passion and dedication to protecting the environment is so inspiring, and I learned so much during my time here. I am eternally grateful to have been part of the amazing work you do. Staying on such a beautiful island, surrounded by the reserve- it was just perfect. Thank you for your kindness and for welcoming me so warmly into your family. 2 weeks was way too short. If you love the reserve and want to make a real difference, I highly recommend volunteering at the reserve.
