The Experience

Hidden in the Sicilian mountains near Palermo, our eco-refuge is a peaceful place to reconnect with nature. Surrounded by olive trees, fruit trees, and streams, we live by permaculture principles, care for our donkeys and bees, and share simple vegetarian meals. Our dream is to create a place that inspires and connects: a space to slow down, recharge, and take action with greater positive impact on the Planet.

I cannot recommend this experience more. It is such a special place and I felt so sad to leave it!!
The work is interesting and varied, Danilo was always patient and kind so I learnt a lot about permaculture and how to live more in accordance with nature. We always had the afternoon off and were free to explore the beautiful landscape around.
Danilo is such a brilliant man. He is so conscious and intentional in the way that he lives and his attitude is infectious. We ate delicious locally grown (often by Danilo!), and always ate together.
I am SO grateful 💌💌💌

Danilo was my favourite host, who has so much knowledge to offer! The sustainable world he has created in his home is truly inspiring. Danilo hosted me when I was in a weird situation with another host, so it was last minute. He is so generous and kind. The meals were all natural foods, locally sourced. The daily work was fun as we worked in a group of 3 with another volunteer from London! I'll miss it very much. Truly a sanctuary. GRAIZE🫂

I had the best time!! Danilo was so kind and welcoming from the very beginning and I felt very safe and comfortable. The work was fair and I loved our melon breaks. I learnt so much about permaculture and spent time with the donkeys and dog which I loved. I can't wait to come back, so greatful for this amazing experience!

I had an incredible time at the project! Danilo is super nice, lovely and welcoming. As a solo female traveler, going to a place I don't know, it's really important to me to feel safe and comfortable, and as soon I entered the building I felt home and safe with the host. The work was fun, easy and if I needed some help he explained kindly and patiently. I would absolutely recommend this experience for everyone who loves to enjoy living in nature, having some donkeys as friends and learn about sustainable living and permaculture. I can't wait to come back I had the most amazing time :))

This experience became a true safe place for me. I was so lucky to be there. I felt very comfortable and calm. The work was interesting and varied, the food was healthy and local, and I really enjoyed preparing all the meals together. We shared a room with other volunteer and had our own private bathroom. Danilo was a very calm and understanding host,he always took care of us, and we loved listening to his stories about bees and home improvement. I am incredibly grateful for this experience. Thank you, Danilo, Sole, Ella and cute donkeys! I would happily return to this peaceful place.☺️💚
