Joe made me feel welcome from day one — part of the place, not just a volunteer. He's truly an inspiration to me and trusts you to take initiative and is generous with his knowledge, so I left with real hands-on gardening skills. Highly recommend for self-starters who like to dive in since the project runs on organized chaos. It's not a tightly structured placement, so lean into the busy, ever-changing rhythm and you'll get a lot out of it.

Joe is a very kind, knowledgeable.... and chaotic man haha. He takes so much time to educate you about all the things in his the project and goes out of his way to immerse you into his lifestyle. I have learnt so much here in my stay and I hope to return soon for a workshop or some delicious food. If you enjoy a really social but laid back envornment, this is the place for you.

Staying at the project was an amazing experience, Joe is really welcoming and always open to chat and arrange the work and the hours. You need to be prepared for everything because sometimes we can plan the next day but in the morning everything changes so you need to adapt, but Joe is flexible and will make you feel comfortable, for sure you're gonna develop new skills, he knows a lot! I stayed at John's and the food was really good, also the mobility to go into the city is really accessible.

We had a great time at the project gardens. We met amazing people and Joe is a wealth of knowledge. Truly grateful for the experience. Be prepared for constant changes and alternating between different tasks and properties - it can feel a bit overwhelming if it's not something you're typically accustomed to but can be fulfilling.

Joe is clearly motivated to promote sustainable living and share this message with his community. He's got a lot of knowledge to share but has a lot on his plate with the project so it's hard to find time to chat. This experience is not for everyone, I'd say you need to be fiercely independent and readily able to adapt. This community cares deeply about the environment but personally I didn't feel like I was totally prepared for the environment I was stepping into. It can be very isolating to live in this neighborhood and the accommodation wasn't I had expected.
