Program Details

Working with us means enjoying close contact with animals and being curious to learn about their behavior and individual personalities. Animals are wonderful companions – and part of everyday life also includes cleaning and dealing with animal waste. This is a normal and important part of animal care, and you should feel comfortable with it.
Our work is hands-on farm work. Daily tasks involve physical activity such as cleaning stables, feeding animals, carrying equipment, and working outdoors. You will be active, use your whole body, and spend much of your time on your feet – so enjoying movement and practical work is essential.
You will work closely with llamas, camels, horses, ponies, donkeys, and smaller animals. Each animal has its own character, and over time you will get to know them well. This work also requires confidence and responsibility – sometimes you need to take the lead and set clear boundaries, always with respect and care.
You do not need to be a professional. If you are new to animal care, we will guide you step by step and support you in learning all tasks. Many volunteers started with little experience and successfully grew into the role.
We are located in a rural area. A bicycle is useful for getting around nearby locations, and we can provide one. If you would like to travel further on your days off, we are happy to take you to the train station by car.

Activities & Shift

Daily routine
A typical day starts around 8:00 am.
Morning (approx. 8:00 am – 11:00 am):
You start in the barn. Main tasks include giving water, cleaning stables, feeding animals and working directly with them. These are hands-on, physical tasks and part of the daily routine.
After the morning work, you usually have free time until around 3:00 pm (this may vary depending on the day).
Afternoon / Evening:
Later in the day, there are additional tasks such as bringing the animals back to the stables, feeding and watering them. Our dogs are also happy if you take them for a walk.
All in all, the daily working time is around 5 hours, spread across the day. The time in between is yours to relax – sleeping, chilling, going for a walk, or enjoying the countryside.
