Life in a Farmhouse and production of traditional cheeses
The experience
I am Mariantonietta and together with my family we manage a cattle, sheep and goat farm, in Altamura, in the Altamurgia park.
With the milk of our animals we produce cheese.
We are looking for volunteers who want to help us in caring for the animals and in the company dairy.
In addition to the volunteer part, I will be happy to tell you stories, local traditions and let you taste dishes of our culinary tradition.

Activities & Shift
Life at the farm follows the rhythm of nature. Usually, our day starts between 7:00 and 7:30 AM, depending on the season and the light. The first thing we do is take care of our animals: you’ll help us feed the cows, sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, and our pony. Afterward, we focus on cleaning the stables and, if needed, doing some maintenance or small repairs to keep the structure in good shape. We generally finish the morning chores around 11:00 AM, which leaves you plenty of time to relax and enjoy the quiet of the countryside. We get back to work in the afternoon, around 4:00 or 5:00 PM, for about an hour to wrap up the daily tasks.A special highlight of our week is the cheese making, which we do three times a week. It’s a wonderful opportunity for you to see firsthand how our traditional products are created. We love sharing this process with our volunteers!
