I really enjoyed my time with the alpacas and goats. Anne was a great host, really helpful and always open to answer my questions about the animals or Australia in general.
The work was mostly feeding the animals, mixing feed and weeding. I mostly finished at 14.45 which led me to enjoy my afternoon as I wished. This is a great place to get in touch with nature and to escape city life.

We loved our time at Madison's Mountain Retreat! Anne, Rachel, Garth and Kyan were great company and easy to get on with - the work was clearly structured and we got into a nice rhythm with feeding times and other tasks. We worked a 5 day rotating schedule, working 5 days and then 1 day off. The work was very rewarding and we miss the alpacas + goats dearly! Thank you for having us, we had an amazing time and would recommend!!😁🦙🙌

My experience at Madison's the farm was amazing! I had a great time taking care of the many animals. The days were well structured and the tasks were consistant. The work included a lot of heavy lifting and the site is very secluded (I would recommend coming at the same time as other volunteers). On off days, the local pie shops are a must visit. I would definitely recommend if you have a love for alpacas!

I had a great time at Madison’s and learned a lot, thanks to Anne, who always answered my questions surrounding farm life and work!
Said work can be pretty physically demanding, depending on what’s on the agenda for the day, but I found it to be very doable and overall well balanced.
Days usually start at 8:45 and an hour break is always included.
As said in another review, the room you stay in doesn’t lock and the area is pretty secluded, so there is not much around in terms of activities or social life, but if you’re fine with that and want to spend time in nature, I def recommend it!

I have an amazing experience at Madison's! The property is beautiful, the animals were great, and the staff are lovely! The work was very fair and Anne was great to explain and show us exactly what needed to be done! I loved getting back in touch with nature, and getting some time to focus on myself. I hope I get to return, as I already miss it!

We all can have different experiences at different places, and what doesnt suit us might suit another. But during my experience here at the farm wasn't the experience I was looking forward to. The animals were super cute of course! As for the environment itself, I didnt feel the most comfortable. There was only one staff member the whole week until the Manager arrived which when she did I didnt feel very acknowledged or respected for being a volunteer.
As for the accommodations and the hours expected to work not matching the profile i didn't feel it was worth to finish the stay.

I had a good time at the farm. The main task is to feed the alpacas and goats every day, which is very nice as you get to spend time with the animals. Other tasks include cleaning up the paddocks, mixing the feed, weeding, etc, which can be sometimes physically demanding but overall manageable.

I was the only volunteer there for most of my two weeks, which was alright. I could spend the free time at the pool and went hiking around on my days off. The main downside for me is the fact that the manager was not particularly friendly and seemed to prefer talking to me only if strictly necessary.

I had a great experience at the farm. I stayed there during the shearing, which was busy but a very unique experience, and I ended up learning a lot. As the only volunteer, I had a whole room, bathroom, and kitchen to myself. They provided all the food, and each week they offered to pick up anything I needed when they went grocery shopping. The place is quite remote, but there's a daily bus to the train station, which is very handy. It's a peaceful spot away from the city, and the staff were all friendly and willing to teach me anything I wanted to learn.

I really enjoyed my time at Madison the farm! Days start at 9 AM feeding alpacas, goats, and chickens, followed by simple tasks for about 5 hours including a break. The work was easy, the farm is beautiful, and there's plenty of free time to explore. The animals were super sweet, and the staff I met (Rachel, Ruth, Jen, and Josh) were very kind. Accommodation and food were provided; the room couldn't be locked and had no smoke alarm, but I still felt safe. Overall, a great experience I would recommend!

A lovely farm experience out of the ordinary. Easy work with a nice schedule while connecting with the animals and nature. A good opportunity if you love staying in the mountains and taking some time to disconnect from the city life.
