I returned to Tahn house after a wonderful stay last year. It was every bit as great, if not better than last year. I encourage every young teacher of English as a foreign language to da volunteer stint at Than House. Their system is unique with unbelievable results. There were not one but 2 Vietnamese kids of just 5 years old who can read English at the primary 2 level. All kids were good to excellent and most could read Comprehensive English reading texts 1 or 2 levels above their age. The accomodation is great (private room /shower) the food is good. Don't miss this great opportunity.

I had an extremely positive first volunteering here, heading into the experience i was a little nervous however from the start, their hospitality, kindness and children made me comfortable. It was clear they had a routine with foreigners and were thoroughly experienced. I was given a massive bedroom and private bathroom. They told me on the first night what was expected of me and when mealtimes and other small details would be so i was well informed and supported throughout my stay. The teaching aspect is extremely simple, basic vocabulary, some games and you do group work throughout the day

This was an amazing experience! Family is really make you feel like home while you staying there. And kids makes experience even more incredible. I was really impressed that so many of them have a good English. I wish I could stay longer but I already had plans but I would definitely consider to come back again.

First of all, let's talk about how communicative the hosts are before coming to their place, I have scheduled a volunteer 6 months in advance and they never fail to communicate with me. Then here comes the FOOD, oh don't even get me started how they made me love Vietnamese cuisine! From breakfast, lunch to dinner! Aside from the taste, they never short on food, they will make you eat until you are full, they are really that generous. Well, the family is really warm welcoming, they kinda felt like family to me haha, I am looking forward to volunteer again to see them abf the children!!

This was my 17th exchange, but a special milestone as my wife joined for her first. Remarkably, Vietnam never felt like an exchange, just people helping one another. The children are bright and energetic; they taught me more than I taught them. Watching my anxious wife transform to deeply moved was unforgettable. Her tears at goodbye said it all.Thank you to this family for their boundless hospitality, endless meals, and fresh coffee. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you! ❤️🙏

I had a great experience with this host family. They took great care of me throughout my stay and were always willing to help with anything I needed.
Spending time with the children was very rewarding, even though it could be challenging due to the large number of kids to manage. I would highly recommend this opportunity to anyone who loves working with children and wants to experience the daily life of a Vietnamese family. I really admire the work they are doing to spread the love of English within their community, and I hope they continue making such an impact.

We are extremely grateful for Maria's sincere and enthusiastic help. Although the work may have been a bit overwhelming or unfamiliar, you have performed exceptionally well, and your ability to lead the children is increasingly promising. Thanks to your guidance and that of the volunteers, the children are becoming more confident in communicating in English. That is also what we hope for. Thank you very much.

Staying at their house was definitely one of my best experiences abroad! Everything is scheduel so you could have time for yourself, get to know the family better and communicate with the kids. Sometimes it didn't felt like work as we're mostly playing or chatting together. Eventough sometimes it can be exhausting, it is easy to recover as get treated better than at a 5 stars hotel. Also of the main assets of this experience is, you get to know the vietnamese culture in its depth, all of it while being part of a family!

The hosts Than and Phuong are incredibly kind and cheerful. They treated me like a daughter despite the language barrier, and they always made sure I felt comfortable. They cook delicious Vietnamese food, the work schedule is well balanced and flexible, and you have the chance to be completely immersed in the culture, spending meaningful time with the whole family. I am deeply grateful for this experience. It was challenging, but also full of cuteness and fun. Than's family and all the children I met, have now a special place in my heart and I will never forget them.

I had an amazing time with the family. While originally I thought the experience would be more of a job I realized it was much more immersive and opened my eyes to new ways of life and community. I was able to immerse myself in the culture and join in on family activities as I wanted while also keeping to myself as I tend to prefer to do. Whenever something came up we were able to communicate and find solutions. Phuong and the home were always ready to help and I appreciate them and their family immensely. I will definitely hope to return in the future even if just to visit!
