The volunteer team is large, so it's not always easy to reach an agreement.

The activities involve more people, so there aren’t many if you work as a team. Roberto is open to any situation you require in the space and encourages team coexistence, as long as you complete the activities.

The place is wonderful; if you like nature, you'll always need repellent, it's impossible to be without it, but the reward is seeing animals and eating mangoes fallen from the trees.

The schedules are always respected, Ame Fazenda 💜

Fazenda Alegría is a magical place, ideal if you love nature; just bring repellent because mosquitoes are very annoying. The food kit they give you is personal and there are also things for communal use. The only difficult thing is sharing the space with 20 more people because not everyone is organized and there’s always someone who leaves something dirty or leaves a pending activity for the next shift. Breaks are during the week and the center is about 2 hours away, the 554 bus runs every hour even in the early morning.
There are two options for sleeping: in the tent area or in a room with 5 bunk beds. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

It was my first volunteer experience and honestly it exceeded my expectations!!!! The fazenda really is a magical place, not only because of the place itself, but because of its people!
I will always be grateful for everything and I know it's a place I have to return to!

Great experience for those who seek nature or connection with the other volunteers who are there. Thank you, Roberto, for the opportunity!

The days I spent at the camping site were very rewarding; the place is beautiful, it brings a lot of peace, we can experience a different side of Rio de Janeiro, with forests and waterfalls. All activities were as agreed; the host Roberto is super nice and welcoming to us, in short… I recommend and hope to return one day, thank you for the experience

Hi, we're Ailen and Agustina, two 27-year-old Argentines who did our first volunteering through Worldpackers at the camping Alegría. It was a beautiful and unforgettable experience, full of encounters, learning, and people who today feel like family and who will stay forever in our hearts. As a constructive suggestion, at times we were many volunteers sharing the same room, which made the shared living arrangement a bit uncomfortable. Perhaps fewer people per room would make the experience even better. Undoubtedly a place that will stay in our hearts 🥰

My experience at Fazenda Alegría was, overall, average. The place has potential, especially due to its natural surroundings and the project's idea, which is attractive for those seeking a connection with nature and a calmer lifestyle.

However, the organization could improve quite a bit. At times, communication wasn't clear, which generated confusion regarding tasks and expectations. I also felt that the workload distribution wasn't always fair or well coordinated, which can affect the experience, especially if you arrive with the right expectations.

Roberto replied

Daniel hardly did any volunteering, since he arrived "feeling unwell" and stayed that way practically until his departure. He did not help with cleaning the volunteers' areas, insisted on using the guests' kitchen and acting like a customer, even though the volunteers had their own kitchen, which caused dissatisfaction among the other volunteers. He insisted on asking for things that we had clearly and in advance stated that he wouldn't have, and he found fault with everything in order to offer his own private services.
