Heiko and Susan are lovely hosts and their home nestled in the countryside is so cozy and welcoming! 🌿 I housesat their sweet pup Finn along with their chickens and ducks for 3 weeks and thoroughly enjoyed my time here! Plenty of books to read, and Portaferry and the beach at Cloughey are a quick bus ride away. Although I only got to spend a few days with Heiko and Susan, they shared so much knowledge about permaculture, foraging and edible native plants in the area. I would’ve loved to have learned more from them! Thank you both again for having me, please give Finn a hug for me! 🤍

Heiko and Susan are the loveliest people, the kindest souls, I could talk to them for hours! So understanding, compassionate, they radiate warmth and they're so funny too. I loved his fresh juices in the morning, his cooking and singing, and his passion for permaculture, he's a real jack of all trades. I learned so much from him. And Phin is the sweetest dog in the world! As a first time volunteer, I'm so grateful, they've made me feel so much more at ease to volunteer and connect with people. Immersing myself in such a loving, genuine environment made it special, one I'd recommend to anyone.

The farm was amazing. Heiko and Susan were phenomenal hosts and Finn was such a pleasure to be around. Great if you enjoy learning about sustainability and permaculture, Heiko has a wealth of knowledge on all things plants. It's not too rural that there's nowhere to see, but it's incredibly peaceful. Recommend to anyone looking to do some hard work but well appreciated and earned.

Heiko and Susan are amazing hosts. Our time at the farm was full of fun outings with their beautiful dog Finn, great food and with Heiko's extensive knowledge of permaculture and foraging. The work was straightforward and laidback perfect for anyone willing to get their hands dirty. I highly recommend this experience for anyone who loves the outdoors and all things nature!

I had a great time at the farm. The work was all fair and good, consisting of weeding, trimming back brush, collecting eggs, feeding chickens, and painting a sign. I learned a lot about different local plants to forage, and Heiko has so many entertaining stories to tell. I felt very welcomed into the hour and we had wonderful conversations during and after dinner, which was a highlight of my days :). We also would go for walks everyday with Finn the dog before starting any work which was a lovely way to start the day. Heiko is an excellent cook as well and I ate great. Thank you so much :)

I felt at home with Heiko and Susan right from the beginning. Their dog Finn was a lovely companion who always wanted to play with me. The work I had to do was light work and I learned lots of things about nature and especially permaculture. What I also liked about my stay were Heikos cooking skills, his food was excellent. I would really recommend spending some time with them!

Heiko and Susan made me feel at home right away. The tasks I had to do were light work. In my time with them, I learned a lot about nature, especially about permaculture. Finn is a lovely dog who always wanted to play with you. Moreover, Heiko really is an excellent cook. I also liked the evenings when he played guitar and sang. All in all, I would totally recommend this experience.

This was my first volunteering experience and I'm glad I came to Heiko and Susan's. This has definitely been a positive and enriching experience that has taught me a lot about nature, Ireland and myself. Heiko and Susan's project of building a co-sharing eco-village is majestic and i'm happy i contributed even if in small part.I helped with digging a canal creating a pond, with clearing the area around the young trees from the weed. I fed the chickens and ducks and cleaned their house and most of all, i played with Fynn, the loveliest of dogs. Space here is not enough to say more unfortunate
