The Experience

We turned an ancient farm in Normandy into a guest house for small groups willing to practice activities while enjoying the peace of nature and experiencing a way-of-life respectful of others. We need help to take care of our garden forest and organize the hosting activity (cooking, preparing the house, designing and testing creative workshops and retreats, and we will be very happy to exchange views and experience.

Cécile was very welcoming and made us two wonderful dinners, where we had a great chat. The farm is a beautiful place and being able to help on it was very fulfilling, and our work was varied. I had a fun week and would definitely recommend!

I had a fantastic time in L'aigle. Cecil is a very welcoming host and I enjoyed talking to her over the week. The taskes are not too strenuous and are completed in the morning. The facilities are very comfortable although be advised you may have to use a wood chip toilet! L'aigle is a nice town and the surrounding countryside is very beautiful although there isn't a great deal to do in town. Paris is close enough by for a day trip or a overnight stay.

Cécile has a very nice home with a beautiful and huge garden where she grows her own food. We had our own room and the work took around three hours every day and was very doable and done by 12, so we had much free time. We had dinner together twice and the rest of the time we cooked for ourselves. The landscape around is very nice, but the village with a supermarket is 25 min walk away, however there are many bikes that you can use. Thank you Cécile for letting us stay at your nice home :)

Cécile and her family were so kind and welcoming! The everyday tasks were simple and involved upkeep in the garden/yard and testing creative workshops. Every volunteer got their own room and there was a kitchen provided for cooking our meals. There was a lot of free time since the daily tasks were all completed in the afternoon. I will miss the cat, Jodie!

Thank you Yiyi, I also enjoyed the time with you, working together outside and cleaning the garden from undesirable plants was so efficient and rewarding, and the quiet sessions of collective embroidery were nourishing for my preparation of the creative retreats to come.

I really enjoyed my stay at the guesthouse. They are kind and easy to talk to, and they make sure everything is well organized. The tasks were simple and clear, with a good balance between work and free time. The place is surrounded by nature, which makes it very peaceful and relaxing. It was also nice to share the experience with other Worlpackers. I'd definitely recommend.
