I spent several days living on the riverbank on Ilha do Combu, in a stilt house surrounded by nature, with pets, monkeys and birds. My hosts were very welcoming and loving, a standout feature of this experience. I stayed in a shared room, and my role was to wash the dishes for the meals (3) at the hostel's restaurant. Hard to put into words what life at the hostel is like. It is a deep immersion in life by the riverside. The chaos and the problems stay in the city and here peace, collaboration and lightness reign. This is how Raquel and Geisi lead this space so special. It was a privilege and a pleasure to feel that I was part of this family and could contribute to such a beautiful and unique space. The forest, the birds, the river, the dogs and the good company turn every day into magic, the kind we want to keep in memory forever. It is incredibly hard to leave! Being able to welcome people and count on the support and assistance from the hostel team is amazing. With Paula, in addition to all the commitment in carrying out the tasks, we were also very honored by her friendship! Attentive, organized, punctual, willing, flexible and proactive are some of her many skills!

This hostel is simply a paradise! One of the most beautiful hostels I’ve ever had the pleasure to volunteer at, with very kind hosts, extremely flexible working hours, very relaxed tasks, total immersion in nature... in short, it was a very enjoyable volunteering experience to connect with the Amazon rainforest.

Being a volunteer at the hostel, on Combu Island, was a very pleasant and truly peaceful experience. The hostesses are those people who welcome you warmly and with tranquility; everything flows with ease. The day-to-day life is simple, quiet, and surrounded by nature, which completely changes the pace. And the little dogs end up turning into part of the routine… constant companionship. It was a time of peace, without exaggeration ❤️🙏

Being in Belém is a dream, and being able to enjoy that Amazon here at the hostel is really a gift, being close to the waters, and to nature, to the dogs and to all the enchanted beings that are around is a great privilege.

The place is beautiful, the hostel team is very helpful and friendly, especially Gabriel. But you should consider that the Wi‑Fi is unstable and that there aren't many activities to do directly at the Hostel; you can walk around it in two minutes.

I was warmly welcomed with a lot of affection by Raquel, Letícia, Gabriel, and Gesy. The tasks are super calm and enjoyable, and Raquel is super flexible regarding the schedules. Gabriel was also always willing to help me and was a wonderful companion during volunteering. I loved taking care of the little paws, Gainho, and the dogs Fiapo, Boris, Mal, and Bico. Indeed, it is an experience that brings us closer to nature and strengthens our relationship with it. Moreover, the hostel is a surreal place! I will miss the walks along the palafitas. Gratitude to all and I hope to be able to return soon!
