The Experience

We opened our new hostel and guesthouse in Seixal on 1st September 2025. It's our first time running a hospitality business, and we'd love a helping hand. It's a hostel blend - half bunk rooms for 12 people, and 6 luxury double rooms with en-suite bathrooms and balconies. Two shared kitchens, lounge area, a coworking room and our amazing 150 sq meter sea view terrace and sunken fire.

This place is truly amazing! Faye and Stuart are wonderful people, and they genuinely care about their volunteers. The whole atmosphere and community are incredibly welcoming. I had so much fun working with the team, completing the tasks together, and enjoying our free time as well. I especially loved how easy it was to connect with everyone and how there was always a good balance between work and having fun. Applying was honestly one of the best decisions I've ever made. What else can I say? The first time was so nice, I'll do it twice.😜

If you will do one volunteering experience in your life, this should be it. Faye and Stuart are the best hosts with huge respect to their volunteers. The environment, athmosphere and the community is exceptional, I had the best time, and came back as a different person.

Outstanding experience at the hostel Life! The place is simply gorgeous, and you'll get to enjoy some of the best sunsets on the island. The natural pools are just a 5-minute walk from the house, and Seixal still preserves the authentic beauty of local Madeiran life, with traditional poncha, fresh fish of the day, and much more. Stuart and Faye are generous, welcoming, and always open to talking and exchanging ideas. The workload is fair, with a good balance between busier days and more relaxed ones. Enjoy the international vibe and meet people from all over the world. Highly recommended!

My experience at the hostel Life was incredible. The place Faye and Stuart have created is paradise, located in the beautiful village of Seixal, surrounded by mountains and boasting the best beach in the hostel. As for the work, it can get tough if there's a lot of coming and going, and the owners have quite high expectations given how lovely the hostel is. They could improve their communication a bit for future experiences, but overall, it's a magical opportunity to discover and enjoy the island.

My experience was absolutely lovely, but also enriching on a personal level. My partner and I worked for a little over a month in this gorgeous house changing beds, cleaning, doing laundry, welcoming guests, and being a point of contact for them. The tasks were simple and the 30h/week of work was very respectable. Stuart and Faye were very welcoming and appreciative of our work which was so important to me. I adored living in Seixal because is it peaceful, beautiful and the locals are real gems. I hope to volunteer again for hostel.Life in the future! This opportunity is gold everyone!
