The Experience

Hello we need some help with our guest house and restaurant. We have some farm animals to be fed. Looking after the grounds and keeping thins tidy. We are a friendly enterprise but at times work can be very busy so we need people who understand the work place and can fit in and adapt to the situation.

I had the wonderful pleasure of staying with the lovely host's Carole and William. They were incredible company and extremely accommodating and flexible with any plans I had made. For the 5 week stay in Coulon, I really got to immerse myself into the local culture of Southwestern France. The people, staff, food, architecture, and area were just wonderful. The work is very easy but it is important to take initiative because Carole and William are very busy and hardworking people. One thing I would say is learn some French before you go but even then everyone is still very welcoming. 10/10

Time flew by. I really enjoyed spending time with Carol and William; they are hardworking and fascinating people who truly enjoy what they do. I learned many new things during my stay. What stands out most about this place is its connection with nature and the sense of peace you can feel there. There are so many things to do and discover. During my time at the Auberge the guest house, I also had the opportunity to meet their excellent team. Thank you all for everything. I hope we can see each other again soon!!!

My stay at the guest house was a truly fantastic experience. While I'd recommend staying longer than two weeks to fully put your skills into practice, I found my time there incredibly enriching. Carole and William are wonderful hosts—always attentive, available, and up for a good chat. As my first Worldpackers experience, they helped me understand the essence of a work exchange. While the work requires genuine effort, it is definitely rewarding. It likely gets busier in the summer, but it's nothing beyond what is described, and given the beautiful weather, I'd highly recommend it!

Thank you Rodrigo.
We really enjoyed your company and all your help.
Yes I think two weeks is too short because it takes that time to really know what you are doing.
I realize that communicating the tasks could be better but there is so much to do and so many different things to do. And I am so busy. That is why we need people with initiative.
We wish you all the best and you are always welcome.

This was a great experience for me! The hosts and staff were friendly, the location was beautiful and quaint, and I loved feeling immersed in rural French culture for a few weeks. the guest house was quite busy when I visited and the work could get challenging. You are expected to learn fast and do the tasks perfectly and I felt the host was disappointed if we made mistakes. Instructions could have been more clear. Overall this was an amazing cultural experience for me while the volunteer experience was alright but can improve.

Everything agreed was fulfilled. There are different tasks to perform according to your skills and experience: the guest house, animals, cleaning... The bosses are mostly busy so you must be proactive and think about the things you can help them with. As a personal opinion, my experience was good, a good social environment. What would improve would be, a better explanation to perform the tasks and da satisfactory job according to what they need
