My experience at the hostel Vitosha was nice. It is a cheap hostel in the center of Sofia, in a old building, there now and then is having some improvements, including during my time there (those days were annoying…). Both Martin and Viktor are good managers, and quite helpful when I had problems. There are 2 main types of shifts: the lunch shift (with a lot of housekeeping and cleaning work – it took me ~4h) and the dinner shift (calmer, with some basic cleaning). In general, it is a nice work experience if you need a volunteer opportunity that can help you explore Bulgaria.

I spent a month at the hostel and had a great experience. Martin and Viktor are amazing people, always kind, respectful, and ready to help. Everything was clear from day one, including the hours, and they always treated me well. The hostel is clean, relaxed, comfortable, and in a great location, making it easy to explore Sofia. I met a lot of people, made friends, and really enjoyed the atmosphere. I was honestly a bit sad to leave. Thanks, Martin, Viktor, and everyone I met for making my stay such a great memory. My first volunteering experience in a hostel couldn't have been better! Martín and Víctor were super kind and made me feel welcome from day one. The work was easy to learn and very manageable, even on busy days. Tasks included housekeeping, reception and sometimes the bar.
There are two hostels and sometimes night shifts, but transport is easy and everything is close.
The city is beautiful, and with the working schedule you still have plenty of time to explore and enjoy it. I truly had an amazing experience and would recommend it 100% to anyone thinking about volunteering here!

It was an adventure to volunteer here, Martin and Victor are great ambassadors of the local culture. I enjoyed my bar shifts and the flexibility I had, it is a truly open minded place attracting various people from all walks of life, so if you enjoy doing things independently, very much recommend.
I liked the location right near everything I needed also how homy it felt inside. And of course, the massage chairs, perfecf to relax with new hostel friends at the end of each day
