Unfortunately I had to leave early, due to personal reasons, therefore I just have a short insight. But if I could, I would have definitely stayed longer! The work was very relaxed and enjoyable, the team is friendly and the town is nice with a beach in walking distance. Despite that, the highlight has to be the building, with public and private the hostel as well as beautiful traditional Japanese architecture and a peaceful atmosphere. This is one of the nicest places one coud volunteer at!

I spent 3 months here and it was an amazing experience. The house is absolutely beautiful and has such a calm, peaceful atmosphere. The terrace and river view made every morning special. Ito is a small town, but it has everything you need and is perfect for people looking to slow down and enjoy a quieter lifestyle. Working hours were always respected and we often finished earlier than expected. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, even when I was bothering them at reception during their shifts (ごめん 😅). I felt very comfortable here and would highly recommend this place to anyone!

The one-month stay at the hostel was a fantastic experience. It was truly unique to live and work in a 100-year-old bathhouse. Yukio and the rest of the staff are all very friendly and welcoming, and I feel honored to have been part of such a great team. The work is relatively simple once you get the hang of it, and you learn it quickly. The city of Ito is a very cozy and charming hot spring town with a beautiful view of the sea. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves quiet and peaceful surroundings and smaller towns.

It has been our favorite volunteer experience so far. The hostel is incredibly beautiful, the staff are wonderful people who are always willing to help in any way they can, and being able to bathe in the onsen every day is a unique experience. There were only three of us volunteers helping out, so the work was divided evenly between us and the hostel staff. We definitely made a little family in Ito and hope to see them again soon. I really recommend this experience to anyone.

I couldn't have imagined a better first volunteer experience. I truly felt at home on the other side of the world. The staff and volunteers were like family to me. We spent so much quality time together, shared wonderful moments, and passed on so many stories and knowledge that will stay with me forever. And the place itself? An authentic ryokan, filled with tatami mats and creaky wooden floors that create a wonderful, welcoming, and cozy atmosphere that can't be replicated anywhere else. The tasks are simple, even somehow relaxing. I have found my peace here. Ittekimasu!

I spent two months volunteering at the hostel and it was an amazing experience. The staff are so kind and welcoming that it truly feels like home. The guesthouse itself is beautiful, with its own the hostel, and the area has plenty to explore. If you're looking for a volunteering experience where you'll feel part of a family and won't want to leave, I can't recommend the hostel enough 🫶

Best time ever! The most beautiful building, super clean and good vibes. The work is straightforward and well organized. Ito is so cozy, loved just hanging out. I highly recommend this place as a volunteer/helper. You're really winning the lottery if you get to experience this place. I wish I could stay longer

The hostel Itō the hostel was my first stay out of three in Japan and it already felt like it couldn't get better than that. Everybody was very nice and welcoming and the working atmosphere was enjoyable and relaxed. I met a lot of international travellers and had the chance to visit many of the local restaurants and bars. the hostel itself is a very charming hostel with a beautiful view on the river, especially at night, and a very nice the hostel. All In all I couldn't have asked for a better working holiday experience. I really enjoyed my stay and I'm very thankful to everybody there :)
