It's not too far from the nearest city(1hr walking). The hosts will drive you if you need to go somewhere. There's so many rivers, lakes and waterfalls around. The tasks are not too complicated. It's just building, cutting woods and planting. The hours are flexible as well if you want to work though all day, you can probably take some hours off from the another day. The hosts , Justin, Sayora(excuse me for spelling wrong), Priscilla, David, Shoko and trovão( big wolf 🐺) are so nice. There's two sheep coming as well to the farm. The farm is mostly vegetarian but you can eat meat if you want.

Soraya, Justin and the kids made me feel very welcome and at home during my stay. I had a lot of interesting conversations with them and learned a lot. I also enjoyed working on the farm and they gave me tasks that I could do on my own. The balance between working and freetime was fair, so I was able to explore a lot of the beautiful area. Lovely animals as well! :)

“Learn the principles of Permaculture”. In fact it is nothing to learn there — you just have a list of tasks to be done, such as: cut wood, cut grass, paint, organize, clean after animals.
It is not learning, it is working.
I do not mind to work, but first words in the name of experience “planting trees” made me think I would work for nature by reforestation, but it is working for the household of this family.
Private room is good.
Children are nice.
Food is vegan.
The worst impression that I had to leave early, and host put me no show up, I spent days proving to support it is not true.

Advice to future hosts: have Yuriy’s complete permaculture and agroforestry training programme ready for Day One. Avoid ordinary volunteer tasks. Otherwise, a sudden maternal emergency may arise, followed shortly thereafter by a review explaining everything he managed to learn about your project in 24 hours.

I stayed one week with Justin and his family and really enjoyed my time there. I helped with permaculture in the garden and with some house renovation tasks, there is a lot that to do and help. The place is surrounded by nature and animals, and the pets are especially lovely. Justin and his family made me feel very welcome and included, the private room was comfortable.

It's a fairly new family project with all that entails. The site is very beautiful and there is a lot to do.
By the way, the project is near Áncora, not far from Viana do Castelo.
