We really enjoy our time at Dan's place, between the multiple tasks we learned and the political and environmental conversations the 10 days flew. Every day he gave us multiple tasks we could do, from feeding the chickens, weeding, planting, mulching, gardening, etc. there's a bunch of things in the farm to be helpful. Dan is very patient explaining how things work and how you should do it. Expect also shared dinners and shared recipes and occasional homemade beer (it is delicious, specially the ginger beer). Music is also an important element so be prepared to share your own favourites.

Our stay at Dan's farm was truly amazing! During our 10 days there we had the possibility to learn about some of the important routines on a farm, going from vegetables and tree plantation, to taking care of chickens and sheep, painting the awesome lower deck a previous volunteer had built, or trimming some trees. Dan is really a great host: awesome cook, patient teaching, curious about your hometown music, and definitely passionate about sustainability and leave a green mark for the future. Also we had the opportunity to meet other previous WPs that passed by to say goodbye, which says a lot!

I had a really fun time here. Dan and Made are so cool. the farm doggie who is sassy and insane and cute. Beautiful property! Tons of opportunity to learn and relax. I met tons of kookie locals and got to wrestle a sheep. A bit rustic and fun and out there and so cool. Go here! Also crisp air!

The stay was amazing, I definitely recommend it. From the very first moment, they made me feel super comfortable, like I was at home. What I appreciated most was the variety of activities and the time spent playing board games. Everything was incredibly flexible and there was excellent communication.

A fantastic experience. They make you feel comfortable from the start. We played board games, listened to tons of music, and shared dinners. An amazing family. The work was super dynamic and there was the option to change if you didn't understand something or felt uncomfortable.

Dan's place was amazing! Such a fun and unique experience! You are welcomed into their family and welcome to join lots of activities they're doing, sports aswell as boardgames in the evening or a music night.
Working at Dan's place is what you would expect and we had the opportunity to do some fun tasks aswell, like climbing a tree! Working is never boring here, because of the diversity in tasks!
So thank you Dan and the rest of the family for making it such a nice and fun experience!

The family was great they welcomed me in like a part of the family from the start. was an unforgettable 3 weeks and first volunteering experience, I have learned so many new things on the farm that I will carry over. The work was very nice and Dan was very patient with teaching, also giving us free reign on which job we wanted to do (pulling gorse/scotch thistle, gardening, etc) which was great. Everyone there is great at cooking, so dinner time was something I always looked forward to. very sociable people and they love music so it was a great fit. I 100% recommend this place, truly amazing!

Dan made me feel very welcomed into the family. It was truly a peaceful place to spend some time, a nice detox from busy city life! Constantly learning new things, there was a lot of variation in tasks on the farm & was given a lot of freedom overall in choosing what to do. Thanks for having me 🫶

I stayed with Dan, Trishna and Made for 2 weeks with all the sheep and dog (Neshka)!
There were plenty of jobs to do including baking bread, gardening, cleaning and cutting up wood and more.
I stayed in a caravan which was spacious and private! The shower is small with limited hot water and there is an outdoor loo.
The family are very chatty and will have open discussions and debates! This can get loud and be argumentative so join in if you want!

I played board games and listen to music from NZ. The family had friends come round too who were great fun (Norm and Mack)!
Thankyou!

My girlfriend's and my plans changed, so we didn't stay very long, but Dan and his family welcomed us extremely well. We worked for just one day sorting sheep's wool and the work was fine.
