The Experience

A range of work, from gardening & chopping firewood, to dealing with sheep and chickens. We have many different gardens, two "veiled garden" with aphid cloth over it, one we call a tunnel house which is a green house for tropical plants, then 3 outdoor gardens of potato, beets & greens netted for birds. Also a berry cage. We do hugelkultur & are organic, plenty weeding, seed planting & harvesting. Also pulling out gorse and planting trees.

We really enjoy our time at Dan's place, between the multiple tasks we learned and the political and environmental conversations the 10 days flew. Every day he gave us multiple tasks we could do, from feeding the chickens, weeding, planting, mulching, gardening, etc. there's a bunch of things in the farm to be helpful. Dan is very patient explaining how things work and how you should do it. Expect also shared dinners and shared recipes and occasional homemade beer (it is delicious, specially the ginger beer). Music is also an important element so be prepared to share your own favourites.

Our stay at Dan's farm was truly amazing! During our 10 days there we had the possibility to learn about some of the important routines on a farm, going from vegetables and tree plantation, to taking care of chickens and sheep, painting the awesome lower deck a previous volunteer had built, or trimming some trees. Dan is really a great host: awesome cook, patient teaching, curious about your hometown music, and definitely passionate about sustainability and leave a green mark for the future. Also we had the opportunity to meet other previous WPs that passed by to say goodbye, which says a lot!

I had a really fun time here. Dan and Made are so cool. the farm doggie who is sassy and insane and cute. Beautiful property! Tons of opportunity to learn and relax. I met tons of kookie locals and got to wrestle a sheep. A bit rustic and fun and out there and so cool. Go here! Also crisp air!

The stay was amazing, I definitely recommend it. From the very first moment, they made me feel super comfortable, like I was at home. What I appreciated most was the variety of activities and the time spent playing board games. Everything was incredibly flexible and there was excellent communication.

A fantastic experience. They make you feel comfortable from the start. We played board games, listened to tons of music, and shared dinners. An amazing family. The work was super dynamic and there was the option to change if you didn't understand something or felt uncomfortable.
