A Quaint Olive and Sheep Farm
This opportunity would be a wonderful experience for volunteers who are seeking to grow as individuals. It is an ideal location for those looking to get in touch with nature and meet like-minded individuals. My farm is also only a 15 minute bus ride away from the beautiful seaside town of Foca. This location is also located just an hour bus ride from the big city of Izmir. Know that tasks given can be completed at a flexible schedule. This is a wonderful opportunity to unplug and enjoy nature because I have limited access to wi-fi on my property. It can be available for basic communication purposes when necessary, but the town of Foca is just a short distance away with plenty of wi-fi cafes!

My name is Umit. I was born in Turkey before spending 19 years living on the East Coast of America. I moved back to Turkey in 2005, and I now own a small sheep farm in Foca. It is currently just me managing my property, so I greatly appreciate any help I can receive. Travelers will be treated like family during their time in my home. You can expect to enjoy sharing our cultures, making and enjoying delicious meals together, and learning from each other.

Una experiencia genial.
Umit es una persona muy atenta y con la que realmente da gusto convivir. Se preocupó mucho por que estuviéramos bien en todo momento y el trabajo no era especialmente duro lo que nos permitió tener tiempo para nosotros.

Só temos a agradecer pela oportunidade que Umit nos deu, mesmo sendo um pouco mais difícil pelo fato da gente não falar quase nada de inglês. Os trabalhos foram muito tranquilos e amamos participar da colheita de azeitonas e ainda acompanhar o processo de produção de azeite. O ônibus para Eski Foça (praia) passa à 600 metros e a gente ia muito lá. Umit é muito legal e com certeza, uma ótima oportunidade para quem fala inglês bater bons papos. Umit nosso muito obrigado pela oportunidade e esperamos que tenha apreciado nossa colaboração e que possamos retornar futuramente 💞

Ümet is a great guy who welcomes in all of his guests. Between tending to the sheep, gardening, and various other tasks that has do be done to keep up a proper farm, there is always work to be done. Ümet was eager to teach and we learned much from him...especially when it came to cooking 😃. He showed us how to prepare many great meals and we ate amazingly. I would recommend his farm.

I enjoyed my stay with Umit. The room was spacious /comfortable, I learned a lot about the culture, & the food was great - we cooked together so I also learned some new recipes.
The work could be difficult at times, but nothing unmanageable. Days off were respected, & Umit gave suggestions on where to go/how to get there. He even took us in to town & farmer's market a few times, which was a fun experience. The only complaint is the work hours. You work on a farm so you do work throughout the entire day with many breaks in between. This was my first time at a farm so it was a learning curve.
