Many thanks to the whole team for this incredible month spent by their side! The team members are lovely and kind. It was my very first month in Ireland, they helped me a lot and it was a total immersion. Despite a small lack of organization at times, I loved my stay and I have very good memories of this experience!

The tasks and hours are met and the room they assigned me was excellent. The only thing I didn’t find comfortable was having to move every time they rented it; I think it's a detail they should clarify. I was the only volunteer and, although the team is very friendly (several were volunteers before and now they’re part of the staff), the atmosphere is more work-oriented than social.
Overall, the experience is satisfactory, but it's worth knowing that the role is lived as real work. I think it's important to arrive with realistic expectations about the type of environment and the working style.

My experience was very negative. What should have been a cultural exchange became labor exploitation. The host treated volunteers like employees, demanding more hours than agreed, including heavy tasks and frequent requests outside scheduled time. I worked exhausting shifts, including 12 hours straight, and was promised payment for extra hours that was never made. In the end, the host tried to justify not paying me by using my days off as an excuse. It was disrespectful, unfair, and exploitative. I do not recommend this place. “Questions. Direct!”

Ana,

We’re sorry to hear your experience was not positive, as it seemed you were enjoying your time in Newport and connecting with locals.

On St Patrick’s Day, we asked you to work extra hours as it’s our busiest day, with time off in return. The photos were your own initiative. We stayed flexible with your schedule, and you were always free to refuse changes.

We regret the misunderstandings, likely due to communication, and apologise. We wish you all the best.

My experience at Anchorhouse exceeded my expectations, a friendly environment, a team of exceptional, friendly and very affectionate people, all with the desire and energy to get along well together.
I have improved my English, even though the journey has only just begun, and I have grown as a human being.
I thank all my colleagues who are now friends and Seamus for the opportunity and the trust he gave me.
