Araucarias Refuge
Our sanctuary is located in the interior of São Paulo, next to Carlos Botelho State Park, one of the most preserved areas of the Atlantic Forest in the world. In our ecological reserve we have a restoration projects, planting native fruits, honey production, among others. We believe that plant-based diety essential for the future of the planet and the evolution of human beings. We are vegetarians and seek to consume organic products. The reserve is isolated, five kilometers from the village. The conditions are pretty natural, suitable for experienced travelers. You will be alone in this house. There’s no electricity. Will keep your electrical devices charged. There is internet signal. No wifi. Just led light. Hot shower and toilet is out of the house. You will have to prepare your own meal. We will provide the food ( honey, cereal, organic vegetables, beans, fruits, bread, olive oil, tea and coffee). The provision is on the kitchen , the vegetables are mainly organic products.
My husband and I spent our time rebuilding a forest. We came from the big city to live closer to nature. We are sportsmen. I am a physical education teacher and my husband is biologist.

The reserve is wonderful. I enjoyed observing the many different animal species, as well as the starry sky, nature, plants, flowers, and fruits. The hosts are very proactive, hardworking, and respectful people. Their beautiful work is admirable, as they are dedicated to reforesting and bringing life to the reserve, which has gone through a huge evolutionary process and becomes more amazing every time. The tasks were enjoyable, and I really liked contributingnwith my partner. Communication was easy, and we were very happy to share with everyone. Infinite thanks! Grettings to Tina and chewbacca

Hands-on volunteering, I absolutely loved it! It was the first time I volunteered on a reforestation project, and I loved it, because I felt I was truly making a difference in the world by helping to plant trees and take care of them. Edi and Adilson are very flexible; I learned a lot from them.
The food is very good, Edi cooks wonderfully well; the food is vegan, but Edi took care to buy eggs for me, she buys them from a person who raises chickens, not from farm eggs.
Edi always showed concern whether I was well settled and whether I was enjoying the activities.

Pessoas como Edi e Adi são raras. Conseguem transmitir sua consciência com a natureza de forma didática e apaixonada. Dedicam sua vida a esse paraíso ecológico, que é um verdadeiro suspiro de alívio da natureza. Para aqueles buscando um modo alternativo e sustentável de viver, o Refúgio das Araucárias é esse lugar, uma real experiência roots, e podem ter certeza de que serão muito bem tratados! Termino meu voluntariado com uma nova visão do mundo, melhor e mais sensível ao meio ambiente, guardarei esses dois com muito carinho e com certeza buscarei voltar!

Felipe is the embodiment of the word 'tranquility'. Always willing to help and learn. He carried out a very nice job preparing seedbeds for planting Atlantic Forest species, together with Davi and Raphael from workaway. And he is a physically fit person who also helped with a heavier task, loading logs!! We hope Felipe returns soon and we recommend him to everyone who is waiting for a collaboration in the most diverse tasks!!!

O Jorge is a troublemaker and only wants to know about living the good life :) !!! He is the perfect person who had been missing from our community. This month we were six volunteers, me (Adilson) and Edi. Jorge's presence was fundamental in collapsing the system. He is a person who recently landed on Planet Earth and is still adjusting. I do not recommend Jorge, because he will stay around here....kidding aside, I would 100% recommend Jorge. A talented person with great sensitivity.
