Backpackers@1770

This is hostel accommodation so you will be staying in a dorm room that has an en-suite bathroom, and we have communal areas for everyone to enjoy! There is a living room area with a TV, big kitchen with seating areas, picnic bench area and a fire pit. It is a fun hostel where all staff take part in a wide range of activities, whether its going for a group surf, four-wheel driving, hiking, fire spinning on the beach or just hanging out having drinks; there will always be something for everyone. Its a sociable hostel so we encourage all staff and guests to interact!

Run by Oscar and Jazz with their side-kick pet dog Duke, Backpackers is a family owned business, which was bought in August 2015. There are three owners, Oscar and his parents Paul and Sharon.

Oscar and his family have each had an extensive experience in travelling and still hold this passion. Since owning the hostel they have recreated the space and are still developing areas to complete their vision. Their vision is to have a hostel that has a chilled vibe, with artwork, eco-projects and the look of a bohemian travelling hostel. With their experience in travelling and passion for the environment, they have applied this in how they've created the hostel; they want to make it to feel like home for backpackers and give them a memorable travelling experience.

I loved my stay at Backpackers 1770! It was truly an amazing experience and I would recommend staying here to anyone. The hostel provides a sense of community that includes fun activities, shared meals and outings. On top of that the shifts aren't too long and the work is very manageable. If you are a nature loving, open and easy going person I'm certain that you will enjoy this experience. I met here incredible people - guests and well as the other volunteers - that made my stay special.

I had a really great time at the hostel! The work was 2 hours each day and there were always clear instructions given. The rest of the volunteers were all so lovely and really helped make my time in Agnes Water so much fun. The volunteer dorm has 10 beds but the room is big enough that it never felt cramped.

I really enjoyed my day at the backpackers at 1770. The work was not too hard and the people here are so lovelyand the vibe is so chill. It's not a party hostle but it still had a lot of fun event times. I loved hanging out with the people here going to the beach which is 10 minutes away swimming surfing and hanging out with the other guest and volunteers. The Dorm was good as well. And they have the best outside shower ever.🔥 Laban,Neta and Oscar were very nice , and flexible if you need to go to another work.

I had a wonderful time volunteering in the backpackers @1770. First I did housekeeping, and then I became the cook. I loved being the cook so much, because it's a big passion of mine and it didn't feel like working. I met the most amazing friends here. The hostel is cozy and the managers make sure you don't work more hours than agreed on. The policy is flexible and they try to match your volunteering with your paid job, which I appreciate a lot. I would recommend everyone to go here if you love small towns, the beach, surfing, and good vibes. It's such a joy to stay in this hostel.
