Batworthy

We love meeting new people, cultural exchange, trying new cuisines, and are passionate about trying to live in a more sustainable way. If you would like to experience life in a typical English village in the west country and have some creative input, as well as interesting discussions around the dinner table - get in touch! We have lots of experience with volunteers and are keen to expand our network to include Workpackers

We love living in the country and really enjoy living in this part of the world. At the moment it is just the two of us, Claire who is an art teacher married to James who is a timber frame carpenter/instructor. We are interested meeting new people and cultural exchange and feel it is important to create opportunities for young people to travel and have affordable experiences. We feel very privileged to have a field which is becoming a more complex ecosystem every year and the planned pond will benefit the wildlife too. We try to grow as many vegetables as possible and the poly tunnel is a huge benefit. We have planted many apple trees as well as making new paddocks with different hedgerow varieties.

🌸I had an amazing experience. Clare and James were incredibly friendly and helpful, making sure my visit was enjoyable, amazing and informative. The hands-on activities and commitment to animal welfare made it a truly exceptional place to explore and connect with nature. I highly recommend it for an authentic and sustainable experience. To connect with nature while you feel like family. Thank you very much 🌸

We had a lovely time with Maira
She is a very capable person who seems to have an innate ability to tidy and make things look nice without being asked - which in a busy household is great! Maira is good at gardening and can work on her own, She likes spending time with the animals and likes to be social but is also quite a private person too - happy in her own skin. When she is in company she is amused and likes to laugh and participate in whatever is going on around her. Thanks for coming to visit us!

I've been volunteering for more than one year in several different places and countries and I can say for sure that this was one of the bests I have done so far. To be honest the only bad thing is to realize you gonna have to leave at some point.
James and Claire are absolutely fantastic as hosts, super flexible, funny and clever, they made me feel part of their family. The environment is beautiful, light and peaceful.
This is how every volunteering should be, a place to learn and explore your creativity, to feel safe and happy. If you got the chance to come here consider yourself very lucky!
