Brisa Bahía

Travelers should choose to volunteer with us if they are looking for a beautiful, peaceful, and nature-filled experience on the Caribbean coast of Colombia.

Brisa Bahía is a secluded beachfront retreat center with a private beach where you can relax, swim, snorkel, and enjoy the Caribbean Sea. There are also two dive shops nearby for anyone interested in exploring the underwater world.

The property is surrounded by lush jungle and wildlife. It is common to see or hear monkeys, sloths, parrots, toucans, iguanas, frogs, anteaters, and many other animals. We also have tropical fruits growing on the land year-round, including bananas, coconuts, papayas, starfruit, citrus, and more.

Volunteers will have the opportunity to explore the local area, practice Spanish, connect with nature, and meet people from all over the world who come through the retreat center. It is a great place for travelers who enjoy simple living, community, creativity, and spending time in a truly special natural environment.

We are Kary and Nhung, the owners of Brisa Bahía, a small beachfront retreat center on the Caribbean coast of Colombia, near the Panama border.

We came from Louisiana with a dream of creating a peaceful, nature-centered space where guests can rest, reconnect, and experience the beauty of the Caribbean jungle and sea. We are still learning every day as we grow the retreat center, improve the property, and continue building a warm and welcoming experience for our guests and volunteers.

Our team is small, friendly, and family-oriented. We work with local staff and community members, and we value respect, kindness, clear communication, and a positive attitude. Volunteers can expect to be treated as part of the team, with appreciation for their time, energy, and ideas.

We enjoy hosting people who are open-minded, responsible, and willing to help with care and creativity. We hope volunteers will feel welcomed here, enjoy the natural beauty of the area, and understand the peaceful experience we are trying to create for everyone who comes to Brisa Bahía.

Our days at the host en the host were incredible. It's a beautiful place full of magic and peace—the perfect spot to disconnect from the daily grind and reconnect with nature. Throughout this area of the Caribbean, you'll have the opportunity to go on hikes to explore wonderful places, experience the local culture, and discover rich flora and fauna. Kary and Nhung were always extremely kind, attentive, and helpful, constantly making sure we were comfortable and guiding us with any questions about the area.

I loved the experience! Kary and Nhung are very calm and helpful people. the host is a beautiful place where you can do many activities, and they gave us information so we could make the most of the area and explore the surroundings. Keep in mind that it is a very remote location, so unexpected situations can happen. We didn't have electricity in the volunteer house, which was quite uncomfortable; however, we talked to Kary about it, and she looked for ways to improve our experience. As for work shifts, they are quite flexible and the tasks to be done are clear. Keep in mind that the host Agu

As our first Worldpackers experience we were so happy. It's extremely remote with so much proximity to nature. The accommodation really suited us, we loved how basic it was but it needs to be said that if you are expecting luxury this might not be the place for you! Occasionally problems arose with wifi/power/water but they were resolved quickly and are understandable considering the location. We were able to contribute in ways that were meaningful and individual to our skills. If you volunteer here, please feed the cat! We are so grateful for this experience, thank you Kary and Nhung

Kary replied

Romina and Adrian stayed with us in October and helped with planting, cooking, and walkway work. Although they didn’t stay the full time originally planned due to Adrian receiving a job opportunity, this was communicated and understandable.

Adrian brought great positive energy from the moment we met — always smiling and a real pleasure to be around. Romina was also helpful during their stay.

I recommend Romina and Adrian as volunteers. Thank you both.
