Café Moksha Brunch Resto & Bed

Hello Worldpackers! We are Celmira and Enrique, travel lovers who enjoy different cultures, and we are also great gourmets, which is why we decided to open a business with all the details a diner and a guest deserve, and that is why we are thrilled to invite you to join our project and embark on a new adventure. We have turned a prominent house in the fifth district of the prestigious City of Mendoza into a specialty café, Brunch & Resto Ahora. Now, we are working on a new project, to have rooms with private bathrooms for lodging. All this is located in a large house situated 600 meters from General San Martín Park, 5 blocks from Sarmiento Street, Mendoza City's pedestrian street, and just a few meters from the distinguished Aristides Villanueva, an artery renowned for its abundant dining options.
We have warm and spacious spaces that allow you to come and live a true experience. A private room for dinners, tastings, and business meetings.
Our project offers comfortable facilities; we have specialty coffee, a space for events, a seasonal artisanal kitchen and incredible baked goods.
Our clients are our top priority; we focus on building a community where everyone feels at home. As a volunteer at Moksha, you will have the opportunity to learn about excellent customer service, barista skills, mixology, hospitality, front desk work and languages. All of this will give you the chance to get to know Mendoza and all it has to offer, while helping us in the daily operations of our space.
We are extremely excited to venture into the world of volunteering so that it becomes a mutually very pleasant experience for both sides and to help you make the most of your time in this beautiful Province, full of charms.
Because of the warmth and location of the space, and the opportunity to socialize with locals, area residents, clients and tourists from around the world. An incredible experience, with a seasonal artisanal kitchen, for both clients and staff.

Both the owners Celmira and Enrique, as well as the team, will treat applicants with respect, maintain good communication, and will involve applicants as one more member of the team. The business will give them the opportunity to practice their various languages, since we are in a high-traffic area with tourists from all over the world. We will provide inductions for tasks, train you, teach you the secrets of specialty coffee, and give you all the tools to carry out your volunteering.

I had an excellent experience at the host. It's a great opportunity to live in a central area of Mendoza and to explore Argentina's gastronomy and natural beauty. The job was simple: cleaning the kitchen, preparing food, and serving customers at the café. Celmira and Enrique always prepared delicious meals. I have an A2 level of Spanish, approaching B1, but I have trouble understanding the Argentine accent. I recommend future volunteers to have a stronger foundation in Spanish, as this can be a challenge.

Kim, we were incredibly lucky that you applied and were with us. It was a real pleasure to have you on the team and to share day-to-day life with you. Your help in the kitchen and with the clients was invaluable to us. We’re really glad that you enjoyed Mendoza and the meals we prepared. Regarding Spanish, you did very well. Spanish is quite a challenge, but your effort was worth it. We wish you all the best on your upcoming trips. "Moksha will always be your home"

My experience with the host was short, and I decided to end it before the agreed period, because I did not adapt to the dynamics of the place and the work. The activities were mainly in the kitchen, helping with dishes, cleaning and the preparation of the food. The experience includes lodging and meals. I believe it can work for people who adapt well to a demanding kitchen routine, but for me it was not a good fit.

My experience as a volunteer at the host was very positive. I got to know the routine of a local café, practice Spanish, meet great people and also contribute my professional experience. I think it's important to come with realistic expectations: not everything works perfectly from day one and a good experience depends on both sides. The volunteer must be willing to learn, teach, ask questions, and be proactive, while the host must be open to guiding and listening. With the willingness of both sides, the exchange becomes a learning and growth experience.

I do not recommend! I applied as a barista, but the tasks were mainly domestic cleaning of the hosts' house, different from what was offered. The volunteers' bathroom did not have a shower: we had to go through the restaurant, ask for permission to enter their house and bathe at limited times. I was always respectful and did everything, but they were rude/bad and I never felt welcome. I ended up sad and crying. I have 5 years of volunteering experience and I have never lived something like this. Other volunteers had similar complaints. I hope the hosts take this feedback to improve.

What a pity your experience wasn't what you expected within less than 48 hours. We do NOT ask for a barista.
Attitude that you showed is not one you have.
The designated tasks were to help you get to know the place and the tasks that all the volunteers have carried out; this is an exchange platform for LEARNING and teaching.
Unfortunately you didn't teach us anything and you didn't learn anything.
In the same way we wish you all the best.
